View Full Version : How Do You Remove Rear Wing?

Not sure if this is where I should be asking this question but anyway. I have been working on my alero these past 2 weeks, preping it for paint. I have got to get this wing off my car. I saw 4 nuts that look like they are holding it on the trunk and I removed them but its not coming off. I have used a lot of force but still no luck. Is there something other then then 4 nuts, like a clip holding it to the trunk? I was even thinking it might be a sealer holding it on and I just need to heat it up to come off.

hopefully someone answers, cuz i tried taking it off for poops and giggles the other day to see if i'd like the alero without it, but didn't get it off either...

uncrew 4 bolts on bottom and just pull really hard. or you can run VERY heavy fishing line between the wing and trunk lid before trying to pull off. it's held on with some really sticky poop.

LOL. Just what I thought... Guess I just have to do some pulling. Thanks for the help.

Got it off no problem. Just took a knife and cut away at the pads holding it in place. Really easy.

it's about time you took that damn thing off, you will look way smoother without it.........

Get a 3 Decker carbonfibre spoiler.

future reference, I removed the 4 bolts, then took a black&decker heat gun to the underside of the trunk lid where the pads are, and had someone keep constant upward pressure on it. That heated up the adhesive and it came up leaving no glue on the trunk lid...almost spotless low-effort removal.
Then I put on the GODZILLA wing that everyone loves so much !!!

I was thinking of some ideas for my hood but I didn't know there was aftermarket hoods for our aleros. Where do I find them?

AleroStyle.com, but I'm showing that the site is down for some reason.
PM CrazyTaxi for info

Would that look good with my Z3's and a molded AAS kit?

Yah... If I was going to do this again I would use a heat gun or let the car sit in the sun all day and then try pulling it off. I caused 2 dents because of the way I took mine off, given they were an easy fix but a pain in the ass.

knock em back in and use body filler, gotta weld and grind the holes down to do it right anyways.
