when i did mine i bought some large ziplock bags to cover the alternator then used to some electrical tape to seal it. dont want water to get in there. used another two to cover up the electrical box. and dont forget to spray down the entire bay with some sort of engine degreeser to get rid of all that crap. also make sure your engine is cold when your about to wash it. gl :thumb:

its done now..used some high end engine decreaser and pressure washed it all off...no more sand, and its shiny..but it kinda ate some paint off my IDI cover, so i'll just have to polish it... :)

yeah, to tell you the truth, i've found that it's more in the strength of the degreaser you have, a good strong degreaser and a regular hose aught to do you fine, atleast in my experiences

I worked in a detail shop for a number of years and we pressured washed every engine that came through from an old ford E series van to a Mercedes.... out secret was just to leave the engine running while you did it. it keeps the water from really sticking anywhere and at least you'll know the car's gonna start again.

I don't have access to a power washer, but I do have a regular garden hose. What brand of degreaser would you guys suggest?

and i'm workin on somethin else too...if you have anything painted, theres a chance it might not be when you're done...

hehehe...no paint here, so no problem! lol
So I would just have to cover up the alternator? Any other parts? (I'm stock when it comes to the engine stuff under the hood)
