i myself personally say the flowmaster 80 cause it sounds and flows great, that is what i currently have, but however, you can buy a full catback system from slp with piping and all so that might be a smarter choice, both are great mufflers so its a matter on if you want the whole system or not

from an economic standpoint, a custom flowmaster set-up will be cheaper

Yeah so how much would this set up cost and is it any better than the flomaster or slp. So far the flowmaster is winning

If I plan on buying a flowmaster 80 series were should i buy it from, and where should i get it put on . Should I go to meineke or should I make a trip to some custom place. Or is there a place online to order from and I have a friend that can put it on for me. I just need to know where to order the pipes and the flowmaster. THANKS

do a yahoo or google search for the flowmaster and you'll find places that sell it, or u can buy it from an exhaust shop if u cant figure it out online.

i just think SLP sounds very nice.......beautiful product........plus the piping is very good quality.........beautiful MANDREL bends.......and a warranty to boot......"Headers and exhaust components are warranted for life against rust, corrosion, failed welds, cracks, and similar defects under normal use."...........i bet Joe at teh local exhaust shop can't give you that guarantee about his piping he will CRUSH bend for you..............if you go SLP i guarantee you won't be dissappointed........

does the muffler from the SLP flow just as well as magnaflow? or is there some sort of difference?

also i would like a deep deep growl. i currently have the flowmaster 60 series muffler on my car and want a louder tone.

so, say i am going to go with the flowmaster 80, which tips would u guys suggest and wouldnt i need some piping to extend the tips out to the edge of the car, or does that come with the muffler?

where are your manners young man? don't steal someone else's thread, just answer the guy's question or start a new post.
cost=go with custom and flow or magna
performance=go with slp
sound is all personal preference, try to find a sound clip. i know there's a post about it somewhere

muffler shop said they could put flowmaster 80 with tips on my car for about $300.00 is the price right?

99Olds
04-26-2005, 08:42 AM
Yeah I just went to one the other day midas said they coulldnt do it. I told them its been done. So I left went to another said yeah I can do it for you. It would cost around 280 and thats with the resonator removed, and no tips. Then Hes said I should look into a cat back system made for my car if I plan on spendinf that much. So I think I just might go with slp.

jackal2000
04-26-2005, 12:16 PM
280 is a little steep for no tips. i paid 250 out the door for a new pipe (2.25"), resonator removed, flowmaster 40, and the oval ss tip. it seriously took the guy a little over an hour to do too.

99Olds
04-26-2005, 01:35 PM
Yeah so do you think I should get the slp then. He also said I could buy the muffler then it would be 120 to put in and weld and 20 buck to replace resonator with a pipe. Which way slp do myself or buy the muff and have the guy do it.

I've got SLP and love it.

Pipes are quiet beautifully bent.
slp on an alero (http://exhaustsoundclips.com/phpbb2/dload.php?action=file&file_id=179)

they're also hitting the rev limiter, so thats why it just kinda cuts out

99Olds
04-26-2005, 03:21 PM
Does the slp have a good deep sound at idle. Or is it pretty quiet? Which sounds better at under 3000rpms and idle 40, 80, or SLP?

ImSoBored
04-26-2005, 06:15 PM
its got some rumble to it

SLP hands down......I've had both and TRUST me the SLP sounds better AND performs better

99Olds
04-27-2005, 09:59 AM
Well I went back and listened to sound clips on that site. And it seems to me that the flowmaster 80 has a nice deep tone and doesnt get raspy but the slp does. I dont know if that is because the person recording was stepping on it, and the flowmaster wasnt. I want someone who has heard both or one in real life to tell me which one sounds nice and deep and not to raspy. I just cant trust the sound clips.

Cliff8928
04-27-2005, 01:26 PM
In most ones I've heard, the flowmaster sounds MORE raspy than in that clip of the SLP. I'd have to say the Dynomax Super Turbo was probably the least raspy sounding performance muffler I've heard on the 60°V6. Although, adding a resonator to the system would probably help decrease the raspy sound as well.

Flowmaster is Raspier....and about every one of my friends agreed the SLP sounded better once I switched

For that price, $300 to install a flowmaster, go with teh SLP kit.

$481 shipped and will cost about $75 to put on. Should only take an hour :thumb:

ImSoBored

took about 3 for me. They welded it on, so..

WOW! $300 for Flowmaster install??! I paid Meineke $80 to do my Flowmaster when I had it put on and that included the piping and bending and welding. I did my SLP myself in about 2 hours (no lift in my garage)
