edit : 3400 v6

i was driving home from work, i got about a mile away and all of the sudden my car started surging really bad. it was like it had no gas, then it did back and forth. it kept surging, when i gave it gas its like it stalled while driving but it would kick back in when the rpm's drop. so i pull over and the car stalls

i restart it, stalls right way

i restart it again, and give it gas to like 3000 rpm and it seems somewhat ok, but still kind of quirky. now, in park, i can rev it up to 4.5k back and forth with no problems, but i put it in drive and it starts running like crap. if i floor it, it stalls, the ONLY thing i can do is give it very little gas. if i give it more it surges/stalls. so i creep home, and it seems like its getting better and better

by the time i make it home, like 4 miles away, i can give it moderate gas, but not full gas. i let it sit in the driveway idleing for 10 minutes, and take it for another spin

now it seems fine, a little quirky like its at 96% or somthing, but it doesn't do the bad surge untill shifting at wot, like 5800rpm.

anyone know whats going on?? there's no SES light, but that may be because i dont have the factory radio in. ive noticed the SES light doesn't blink when i start it, only comes on for 1 second then goes off, i thought it used to blink.

EGR? mine went and it did similar things. Get it scaned anyways cause if your light don't work then the code should still be stored.

Yeah I was thinking EGR or MAF sensor.

I am having some similar problems but no flat out stall.
It started last night like a misfire or sputtering, thought I was low on gas I filled up and begain to drive again, still did it then it threw a code.
I toke to dealership this morning and they said it was the code for the crank sensor but had no real solution but replace the sensor. After that I had an oil change and fuel filter replacement and it seemed to help a little bit. I also cleaned the throttle body but that did not do much. the missfire has stopped (for now) but i have lost power and overdrive does not work properly. it revs like it should but does not go as fast as it should.
Possible reasons I thought

spark plugs (dealer said fine)
water in gas tank (dealer said would cause no start)
fuel filter (helped out but not completlely)
alarm with remote start (dealer said possible but did not want to point finger)

I am going to see how it runs tomorrow and go from there

sorry i forgot to re post. the problem eventually worked its way out, as strange as that sounds its running perfectly fine now. ive been putting alot of miles on my car since then, driving alll over the state, at least 250 miles since it ran like poop, and its 100% now. no idea what was wrong, but it was barely driveable for like 8 miles....died like 3 or 4 times, had to baby it to keep it running, and give it gas at lights. wierd....
