Little Rat bastards. While I was in Shilo Manitoba, On leadership course. I spent three weeks in the field without driving my car, opened up the hood and found the exavt same thing, only it wat the hood liner that had been sacrificed to make a nest. Little filthy vermin.

ah yes, Nick did a GREAT job. I'm totally pleased with the look and functionality.

I found out the foam was down in the bottom of the air cleaner box, that stuff stuck to the air filter was actually strips of material from the firewall padding :(

ONE MORE THING: I found a way around the washer fluid reservoir. I removed it completely, and for $10 I got one from a Chevy Astro minivan. It's the perfect size, although smaller capacity than the original, and will fit perfectly between the under-hood fusebox and intake, right where the old air box was. Uses your existing pump, and has to be drilled if you want to use the "Low Washer Fluid" sensor (optional). By doing this, it uses the same connectors as your factory model and doesn't require rewiring. All you have to do is get a nice galvanized or stainless metal band or bracket from a hardware store, and bolt it to the same spot where the air box unbolted from at the bottom, and re-route the wiring from the original place underneath, to come back into the engine compartment through the hole in the left fenderwell (so it will reach the new location) and you're all set....will send pics when complete.

that looks really sweet, cant wait to get one for my car.

i was wondering a few things though. Whats the difference in the intakes from different makers? like what would be wrong with buying something like this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38634&item=7969051174&rd=1) off of ebay for a fraction of the price? is there really a big difference and will the intake really help at all?

that one has a ridged coupler, which might hamper air flow. Plus, I can't tell for sure (maybe email the seller to find out for sure) but it looks like 2.5" tubing instead of 3". The price for theirs is about $90 shipped... mine isn't that much more, and it is 3" and it doesn't use ridged couplers. As far as performance goes, I don't know if there would be a big difference, but the more mods you do, the more the effects of a well designed intake will show.

Thanks for the feedback. I just got back from the local "auto parts store" and they couldnt even find an alero intake. So after a few paychecks i may order one from you.

Oh and is it possible to get a custom color made for a little extra?

What do you mean by custom color? Do you mean the actual tubing? Or the couplers? I give you the choice of red, blue, and yellow for couplers. I don't do custom color tubing, because I just don't have the facilities to powder coat. I'm sure you could bring in the tubing to a machine shop locally and have them powder coat it for you.

Mine whistles at idle before the engine warms up, and it whistles at around 2k RPM always. It's not super loud or anything, but I'm just wondering if this is normal. Should I be concerned about a leak? I cranked down pretty hard on all the clamps, so I wonder if it's the generic filter.

^ This is normal.

It whistles? It should make sort of a suction sound.... but as long as you clamped down the clamps all the way, there souldn't be a leak. I mean, there aren't many places there could be a leak.... it's aluminum pipe and rubber couplers....

We may be talking about the same sound. I would describe it as a whistling. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the filter, not any connection point. My paranoia led me to think that maybe there might be something wrong with the filter, but it doesn't appear to have anything wrong with it, visually. I dunno, if it's normal, I won't worry about it.

no, you dont have to have the stock coupler. Naich's system provides a coupler with grommets inserted for you to put your factory connections into it.
