ive heard 8 degree's, ive heard 4 degree's. anyone know the real awnser? this is for there off the shelf tune, for a intake/exhaust

the reason im wondering, if it is 8 degree's, if i was to get a custom one done around 4 degree's, would this allow me to run 87-89 octane 100% ok? there's a place by me that sells 89 octane for what the other places sell 87. with the rising prices in gas, i dont want to add another 20 cents to each gallon, i THINK this is the only reason dhp requires 92 octane. it would mean probably 1 or 2 less hp...big whoop, the best thing about it are the shift tables, and no governer.

any input? i cant get ahold of dhp these days.

the DHP PCM goes to around 30* of WOT timing.

you do NOT need to run premium gas UNLESS you are getting KR (knock) from lower octane.

i ran 87 w/ DHP before the turbo, and everyone else that i know of runs 87 as well.

just get the standard PCM and you will be fine

www.digitalhorsepowerinc.com would be a good place to start

and the auto trans interceptor will get mixed reviews and i wouldnt use it personally and especially with a DHP PCM (they are not chips)

they will make all your wildest dreams come true

thanks for the reponse germ, do know how much the stock pcm advances at WOT? i dont think you meant 30 more, but 30 total. i thought the whole issue with intense was they were commanding that much advance, and blowing engines because of it.

30* total

stock WOT is around 22*, DHP commands around 25* from the spark table.

but then they add timing via the Air Temp vs. Timing table, to give a total of around 30* of WOT under the best driving conditions.

about the intense thing and blowing up engines, 30* of WOT is NOT good for a boosted car. thats why they were blowing up.

30* is ok for a non boosted car.

here is the stock 3400 Timing table,
http://www.jordierobb.com/GA%20Info/Stock%...%20tables..html (http://www.jordierobb.com/GA%20Info/Stock%203400%20Good%20fuel%20timing%20tables..html )

I'm not going to post up the DHP Timing table. DHP Made changes all over the Timing table. Also they only use the IAT Timing table to add about 2 degrees. the stock IAT timing table will not add any timing, it will only take out based off Inlet air temp.

Just comparing stock timing and DHP V1.0 looks like it’s about 4 degrees overall depending on temp. Keep in mind timing is based on RPM, The changes are not linear over the entire RPM band.

hehe, all I have to say is. You want to run the lowest Octane gas you can without getting any KR, which was kinda mentioned before

was just looking through this and noticed this comment

I am getting nitrous and will be doing a 55 shot, i have the DHP unit, purchased way back when it first came out...... are you saying that it'll blow my engine using the nitrous and the DHP?

thanks

well i know with superchargers and turbochargers timing needs to be retarded a little for knocking reasons.....i dont know if it would be the same for nitrous.....

you dont want to advance timming when running nitrous, perhaps they can update the tune on your dhp for a lower fee, they were reproggramming intense* units for like 25 for a while
