View Full Version : Headlights Dim When Rolling Up 2 Windows

I noticed that when rolling up more than one window at a time (from the driver's seat) that the headlights will dim. If I stay on it once they are up, it dims even more.

My last truck did not do this, so I'm not sure if its normal. I want to know before I put an amp in, so incase it is an alternator problem or something, they can't try to blame it on the additional load from the amp or any garbage.

Anyone elses Alero do this?

Mine does the same thing, if you listen to the engine cloesly while doing it you can hear it change sounds a bit. For some odd reason, it must take a lot of power to close the windows. I think its perfectly normal however, dont worry about it.

mine does it too. Ive got an amp also, and no problems. So you'll be fine

what size cap are you getting? sorry to burst your bubble but i dont think a cap is going to do much......whats that saying, "like putting a bandaid on a broken leg".....upgraded alternator is prolly the only way you will see a difference.....

its only a 1.0 so i dunno either, like i said hopefully, but if i can avoid spending money on gettin a new alt, i'll be happy

caps are the biggest waste of money and i sell car audio......you'd think i'd tell ya they are good cause theres a decent markup on em.

i didnt pay a lot for mine......ebay'd it.......but there is less of a voltage drop when the bass hits....theres still a drop just like before......just not as bad.....before i could get it to drop 2 volts.....now it drops only 1/2 a volt.....

i totally agree with you on that, caps are a gimmick

ive said this before, caps actually cause a voltage drop. say you have 15volts comming from the battery, after the cap you may have around 13.5-14volts. for the other members that down know how power is made, amps x volts = watts. so the lower your voltage, the less the output.

if your lights dim, get a battery, or alternator

lol then explain to me why i got less of a drop at the amps after i put in the cap??........voltage metered it and everything......

i have the same deal

i've got a duralast gold in, the stock alt crapped out on me a year ago or so

i was considering swapping the alt again, i haven't run a test on it yet to see what it's putting out though
