Throttle Body Spacers

I was wondering if anyone knew where, or if, they have throttle body spacers for the V-6 Aleros.

Spacers is a Old school Trick people did on cars with Carbs. From what I hear it is supposed to give high end torque.

high end torque? i was under the impression that it cools the throttle body because it's not connected directly to the engine, and conducting heat..... but in all actuality, it's still gonna get hot, and your intake air isnt gonna get any cooler.

I did some quick research what I found was it gives high end torque, but dont believe what you see one the internet becuase my source could be wrong.

the function of this one was more for heat insulation than for torque
mike (the guy that made them) did tests on it and found the temp on the throttle body to be cooler with the spacer.
he wants to do thermal imaging but doesn't have access to that kind of camara

so lets say the TB is 10* colder, and i have no idea how much, probably not even that much since it's still sitting in a hot ass engine compartment. anyways, say its 10* colder, and the air passes that TB in .1 seconds, how much colder will the air be in releation to what it would have been without the spacer? .001*? they're a waste of money

High End Torque??????

From what i see, the purpose of the PFYC spacer is to keep the Supercharger heat from reaching the TB, therefore the thing is only useful is you're S/C'd, which alot of us aren't. And if you go to any search engine and type "throttle body spacers", it will give you a list of different kinds.

Here's a couple:

The OVERALL principle of the spacer is to "spin" the air so it better atomizes the fuel in the intake manifold. If torque and insulation are actual benefits, they would only be byproducts of the spacers true nature, a SPINNER for your TB. Sorta like the Tornado. Do a little more research, guys.

you need to do a little more research. a throttle body spacer isn't somthing that spins the air. thats the purpose of the ones in the link you posted, but a spacer is what it sounds like, a spacer. it isolates the TB. the links you posted are throttle body spacers that have a spiral in them to supposadly spin the air.

Kinda like calling all chevrolets a monte carlo.

the links he provided are throttle body spacers......just different types, so rather than shooting him down explain to him that not all have the spiral to better atomize air and fuel like fully and accurately described......theres just more to it......

and yea, the fraction of a second the air passes through the throttle body, a spacer wont do anything, not unless like you noted a supercharger is present and the spacer allows you to move the throttle body away for heat reasons or clearence reasons........

OK, let me try this again. The name of this thread is simply called "Throttle Body Spacers". No where in bjensen original post did it say "Can someone explain what a spacer is, and I DON'T MEAN THE SPIRAL KIND?". And you said it yourself Mike, "The spinning function is the purpose of the ones in the links i posted". So how do you know that these aren't the ones he was talking about? He left his question very open ended, so when i said do more research, i wasn't saying that you guys didn't know what the hell you were talking about. I was merely stating the fact that there is MORE THAN ONE kind of spacer in this world, but you guys were ONLY referring to that one kind. If someone asked about re-inforcing their frame, would you just put up ONE link to a front strut brace and call it a day? No, a person who was giving "valid and thorough" advice would cover all aspects: upper front, lower front, rear, anti-swaybars, and a couple others along with brands ranging from Speedbuilt, Mantapart, RSMRacing, etc. This would be the correct way of going unless, UN-FREAKING-LESS, the person asked for a specific type, which bjensen did not, mostly likely because he doesn't know a whole lot on the subject, so as educators (meaning you) it's a must to cover everything this guy could possibly be talking about. So, to re-iterate what i said in my previous post, DO MORE RESEARCH, because you only half-assed your explanations to what YOU FELT he was talking about, not to what was actually asked.

But hey, you apparently know exactly what he was getting at, right Mike? So feel free to point out where he said "Where's that spacer specifically built for S/C setups?" With my bad eyes and, i guess, somewhat slow comprehension skills, i must have missed it :unsure:

what he posted wasnt wrong, it was just not complete but he never said that what he was explaining was the only thing out there......so rather than take everything so anally, talk 2 him and explain to him the other type and what not....thats how ur learn things....

why do you need one for a v-6 alero anyway, i thought your alero was a supercharged v8. :rolleyes:
