OK I'm going to get the DHP PCM after my vacation and they come with "falsh guard"

If my SES light comes on and it's reset, does that change the PCM back to stock?

who told you they come with a "flash guard"

that is incorrect.

if your going to get a PCM, just buy the Powertuner. they DO support the alero and YOU control how your car drives. and you get to choose TWO years and makes of ANY GM v6 OBD2 cars

so if your buddy wants one and he has a Grand Am, you can get the Powertuner setup for your Alero and your buddies Grand Am and then you both can split the cost.

i dont know what i would do if i didnt have my Powertuner

They do have flash guard but you pay extra for it and I think its only good once and you should not have to worry about this unless you take it to the dealership and they reflash it But other wise your good to go.

All the guys I know with DHP's for their 3800's love them and had good reductions at the track.

I know one guy who already ordered his 3400 DHP for his Grand Am.....just waiting for them to make it for Ecotec and then goodbye governer!

How long did it take the dhp to figure out the shifts. I have heard they start out sloppy and then start to firm up after a while.

If a ses or svs light comes on and I go to the shop to get that code cleared, does that reset the PCM?

the j-body guys have been trying for over a year and no luck.

But for us 4 cyl guys there is hope for spring time.

I clear my own, if you take it the dealer, you do take a chance on them reprogramming it back to factory or updating as per a PI campaign, but they would have to actually reprogram it, just erasing the ses codes won't put it back to stock. DHP guaranteed me 1 reflash just incase that happened? are you still under warranty?

<_< No the dealer voided my warranty on me but I only had 900 miles left anyway

My mech uses one of those Snap on tools computers

Yeah i use a cornwell odb2 scanner to check and erase codes and i have had no problems, i'll be selling mine soon because i'm upgrading.

Good to hear, I mean, I have a mnual tranny, so I don't need to set my shift points, but getting rid of the top speed limiter, and being able to reprogram other parts of the engine would be great!

flash gaurd, i gotcha now. you mean that if the dealer were to rewrite the pcm then DHP would fix it once for you.

i thought you meant that they "locked" the pcm so it couldnt be coded over or read by the competion, which is incorrect and they do not do this.

just get the Powertuner. trust me, its worth it. it comes with a scan toll, and case learn feature, and you can program your PCM any way YOU want.

great...

i just put on new head gaskets (graphite), new heads that were ported and polished, ls1 valve springs, polished valves, bigger ported and polished upper and lower intakes, re did the turbo crossover and down pipe, and will be putting in a newer tranner soon.

shes got about 196,000 miles on the STOCK tranny. lol and its still holding up (barely i might add)

im putting in an LSD and maybe 3.73 gears, and will be putting in a ~3000 stall TC.

im hoping for 12's.

i pulled a 14 flat at 106mph with a blown headgasket and 10 psi and 89 octane gas.

with the new mods and fresh tranny and 13-15 psi and race gas and a little more tuning, i bet i can shave almost a full second off.

im going to the dyno within the next few weeks.

im hoping to pull off a 300+ whp pull and HOPING for about 375 TQ

my goal by the end of the season is a 350 whp pull, 400 tq, and a 12.5 et

thats gonna be sweet...one question tho...do you really think your gonna need the gearing??...i remember a discussion somewhere that the gtp boys got better times with their stock gearing...when they went to 3.73 (and they were in the 12's) they lost a few tenths..so they ended up goin back to stock gearing......yours must be better then our 3.05??

im not sure if im gonna get my s/c by hot rod power tour or not, but i will have headers and pcm by then

i have the 4t60e w/ 3.33 gears right now

notice i said that the 3.73's are a MAYBE. ive been watching the 3.73 vs. 3.29 grand prix debate for a bit now. stock gtp fdr is 2.93 i thought.

im probably gonna stick with the 3.33's and just beef up the trans some with some HD parts. LSD, 3000 stall TC, and raybestos clutches for now.

why are you going S/C??? and which S/C? have you considered a turbo? its much cheaper and a best power adder IMO
