OK I love the Alero but this is driving me insane.

It was at my mech all day, he drove it serval times and it didn't do the stuppering problem. It was at the dealer twice, they can't figure it out, well without charging me $94 just to look at it.

The second I pull off the lot of my mech's shop, sputterers out AGAIN. AAHHHHHHH I hate this f***ing problem.

I have a lot of money tied up in the car right now, plus this site is a great place to BS in, but I can't take it anymore.

I called the dealership about a 2005 GTO. 400 HP out of the new LS2 motor  The salesman told me that the 05's won't be out until January, but there are a lot of insectives for the 04. Plus with what I put down, it will probably be only $50 a month if I go with 60 months.

I don't know. Of course I would demod as much as I could

How many miles on the Redog? Ya got me thinkin man. I may have missed out on James' car, but if I had an opportunity to take ownership of the Redog, I would definately consider it.

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow, to try to get them to fix it. It will cost but at least it will be fixed.

I disconnected the shift kit becuase the dealer can't scna the car with that in there

If this doesn't work or they can't figure it out, I might be test driving a GTO tomorrow night

I feel like this :( :) :( :)

is it doing it when ever your in drive and u drive on a slight bumpy road? Mine was misfiring like hell.. and i changed out plugs, wires, got injectors cleaned. I was about to change all the fuel injectors but when i drove home for thanksgiving the car quit on me. Comes to find out it was a broken wire in the MAF sensor harness. I took out my digital voltmeter and measure the reading of the 3 wires (5 volt sensor wire, ground, then 12 volt) .. i had no 12 volt so i poke a hole in the insulation above the harness and it read 12 volts.

When to GM dealer got a new harness plug for 30 bucks.. spliced in wires with their suppied butt connector and it done fine!

My tranny did act up when the MAF wire broke all the way through along with the SES light. But before it broke .. it was misfiring like hell (sputtering)

I was about to trade in my car too.

do u have access to a gm tech 2 scanner or a snap on diagnoises scanner? That would help you out greatly.

I even put my car on the osciliscope at school and we didn't figure it out. Mine acted up intermittenly only when driving.. when the car is park it was fine. So I dunno.. broken wiring problem are the worse to find, too. It might be it.. you never know unless it breaks all the way through. Mine acted up for 2 months. I still drove it as it was. (only car)

PS.. my car got better gas mileage when it was misfiring.. lol go figure. Now that its fixed.. I get 20 mph city, while i used to get 24 mph city when the car was acting up.

Thanks Aftermath you are really giving me a lot to look forward too. Kinda giving me a new hope ;)

I want to keep the Alero. One day I will retire it and buy a new car (possiblly a GTO, that new LS2 motor is sweet  ) Redog will sit in a garage and the new car will be a daily driver.

If it is just a MAF, I'd be very happy

take it to the dealer have have the tech hook up the hand held and go for a ride and do whatever you have to get it to sputter.

Actually I'm very hopeful right now.

I was outside on break at 7 this morning and my buddy, a mech in the plant, stops and asks "What exactly is it doing" As soon as I start it he says. "Dude, it's misfiring. I can hear it as soon as you started it"

Car is at the shop right now getting new plugs and wires.

Going from Bosch Platuum 4's and Taylor 8mm wires to ACDelco's and Accel extreme 9000 8mm wires.

Fingers crossed.

Not too pissed about all this, so far I only put $20 into it for a new fuel filter, Wires I've had forever and the plugs were $42. Costing me $75 installed.

I'll be the second. Awhile back there was a post on those plugs and I wrote the issues I was having with them, then the shop told me I was not even close to the first with this issue.
