my SES light came on today, car runs 100% ok. so i went to checkers, used there scanner and pulled a p1404. i didn't know i had to bring the scanner in to have the codes printed off, so i just cleared the light then, and when i brought it in, they said they couldn't give me a printout because i cleared it.

anyways, i did a search, it seems some people think its 1 of the 2 o2 sensors, some think its the egr valve...what exactly is it? i dont think its a big deal to replace, car runs fine, and on the way back after i cleared it, the light didn't come on

its a 2001 3.4

thanks

i checked on the how to's, vtolds posted all the codes and it said something like ur egr valve is in the closed position.........so check the wiring to it, i just ordered one off of ebay, im just going through things one at a time to check and see why i have a crappy idle and gas mileage, if i find nothing to be wrong with my egr valve i will sell you the one off my car if its in working condition.........up to you though......

ok, a search on grandamgt.com said that alot of 2001 threw codes for no reasons, and there was a update on the computer to fix this. to find out if your car has this update, go here

http://calid.gm.com/vci/VINEntryPre.do

but when i do, and enter my vin, tell it PCM, "NORMAL" it says retriving calibration info, and loads forever

anyone know if a dealership will update my pcm for free? i mean, it is gm's fault...
