Step by Step Intructions

1. undo electrical poop
2. drain all fluids
3. unbolt tranny
4. yank the old engine out
5. put new one in
6. bolt tranny
7. new fluids
8. redo electrical poop

very basic, but yeah, just remember how you took it out, and be organized where you lay the pieces that are getting reused....i did the install of my new engine by myself....well and an engine lift....most mechanic work i had done before that was change my oil, you gotta learn somewhere......

Yes you would need the wiring harness, tranny, computer, and anything else that is needed I cant think of any more stuff atm.

You would need a new ECU, wiring harness, and I'm not sure, but there might be a difference in the motor mounts.

Lifter is easy just remember where you cams are so you dont mess up your timing. The Valve is alot harder seeing how you need to take the head of your off the block.

well it can be from either valves or lifters but im sure the sounds coming from the top of the engine anyone got a price for the valves and lifters. i was thinking of taking a digital movie and play it for u guys. too see if i get another idea what it is.
im going to get a tube and check were the sounds coming from.Is there a dif in sounds from the rod knocking to the valves clicking.it more like a clicking and gets louder as u rev it up

Were you able to replace the 2.4 with the v6? If so how hard was it?

just take all the stuff from the v6 car, wiring harness, pcm, engine, tranny, heater hoses, radiator hoses, and you should be good to go....

when removing the motor, it is sooooo much easier to do when you take out the radiator first.....

also I'm not sure if the a/c condensor is in the same place on the v6 as it is on the twin cam.

Changing from a L4 to a V6  Dude that gonna be alot of rewiring of the ECU, pressure line, cables not to mention redoing the tranny setup. Your putting yourself through alot of work. prop to you for the time and patience doing that.

Yeah everything can work if you change the PCM, ECU and all the other wiring. Make sure to get the Tranny too. The GA tranny is a bit different than an Alero's

last i checked the 2.4's all used the same tranny..

the 3.4 aleros used the grand am SE model 3.4 tranny... the 3.4 grand am gt tranny is different with the final drive ratio...

ahhh a post that does not involve getting the GM S/C PCM flash so spy is confused. LOL

The PCM IS different from the 2.4 to the 3.4, hell the pinout between the J's and the n bods is even different.

And yes the 2.4's do use the same tranny but there are diff final drives and the 3.4 uses a totally different tran than the 2.4 comes with.

If you get a complete front clip you should be good to go. just need to pull the old powerplant and drop in the new one, including the equipment on the cabin side of the firewall.
