Somebody once posted a link in one of the forums to a website that had aftermarket automatic shift knobs and E-brake handles and such, and I can't seem to find it, and the search engine is not helping either. Like the chrome or carbon fiber ones, and the differnt colored ones. What site was it?

Go out to your local speedshop and look around that is where you will get your best deal. I bought a Vibrant Performance CarbonFiber Auto shift knob for about 25 bucks and ADD ON PERFORMANCE around where I live.

I got mine from e-bay for a few bucks. It seems to be a popular choice. Its wrapped in pleather. (I really need to do something with these stupid HVAC knobs. I don't think they are clear plastic though, they are black on the inside and out.

Or it's pretty easy to make blue ones like mine...You could probably make purple or green also, it's just paint.

That's what I was thinkin'...what year is your car? I think that if I bought one of those shifters, I'd take a dremel tool to the shifter column so it's not so tall.
I think jonnyboy bought his @ circuitcity, but not online. Roughly $20-$25 if I remember correctly, but it's got the button on-top.

well there's no such thing as dipping anything in CF.
and i wouldnt do anything to my shifter to alter the originalty of true OSV components.

You can do a cf dip with a process called water transfer printing. Basically, you place a sheet of cf print on top of a vat of chemical... the chemical softens the print... you dip part in, and the water pressure molds the film around the part. Then its coated with automotive grade clearcoat. I don't think it would work on a leather covered shift knob though.... Most brushed aluminum and cf in cars are made this way... they're water transfer printed on plastic parts. Some cars use real aluminum and real cf, but it is a lot more expensive.

actually most are just covered in faux CF vinyl. unless you get it like that stock, then its probably done as you explained....
the process you're talking about is a little more expensive... and it's not really "dipping in CF" but i guess you could call it dipping.
and yea, i dont think you could "dip" leather... but if you wanted you could strip the leather and "dip" that.
either way i wouldnt alter these OSV components.

I can only find sites that actually sell the equipment to do it... and it costs like $75,000 for the machinery to do it professionally. I guy in my area does it locally. I actually found out about the process from a guy named Jace who works for Pontiac (me, oldsman, marc, phil, and a few other of us met him at GAP).... I think your best bet is to find a local place that does it. If you want, if you have parts you want coated, I can inquire about it with my local guy.
