yes i used the search feature and it didnt provife what i was lookign for. anyways i just ordered this, and i know nothing what so ever about this. all i need to order was 1 right? :rolleyes: anyways, i need some installation help on this bad daddy.i know i need to drain my coolant and all, but i wanna hear from you guys who have done this, whats the best way to drain the coolant, and how do actually install this thermostat. i wouldnt mind gettin a how to from someone. thanks

also i figured i'd install naich's WAI at the same time i install this thermostat. but if only naich would send me the WAI.......(basically i can knock 2 birds out with one stone)

Its an easy install...buy a Hanes book :D trust me a how to from someone is not a good idea...spend 14 more bux and do it right....I had never done it and it only took me an hour and a half and 1 scar. :thumbsup:

Lol ya i'd have to agree those Hanes books do the trick pretty well they got pictures and the whole 9 yards for most things

The second I accually have to start doing these things on my Alero i'm going to buy one of those for sure I've had one for every other car i own.

Sometimes they don't give u the best help but they atleast point u in the rite direction and then well u go from there

there is but its a bitch to get out, easier just to pull the lower radiator hose...
besides if you do get teh cock out youll most likely not be able to get it in since its plastic and strips extremly easy.

yea that plug is a piece of crap, just pull the lower hose like mobs said.......

yeah i just did my t-stat today, couldn't find the drain plug so i pulled the lower rad hose, not much coolant comes out? make sure the old t-stat stays in the block or you wont be able to get the housing out.

what housing i thought you replace the old thermostat with the 180 degree one

yeah you do, but the thermostat is behind a housing held on by 2- 13mm bolts

gad dude someone is gonna have to give me a walk through on this..... looks like im gonna have to order a hanes manual online because autozone o reileys, pep boys, only have those hanes books for random cars ive never even heard of.... <_<

Its very easy! Drain the coolant by the drain cock or the lower radiator hose. Remove air intake tube, probaly whole intake box for better access. (my friends alero had a cai on it when I did his.) Remove the two bolts on the t-stat housing, kind of a bitch to get off but just do a lot of little turns with a wrench and it should come eventionally. Pull housing off, might have to twist it around a bit to get it out. I think you also need to disconnect the hose from the housing. Look how the thermostat is in there and make sure to put the new one in the exact same way. If there is a gasket on the thermostat make sure it is in good shape. (Can't remeber its been a while) You can take the gasket off the old one if needed.

Then just do everything in the opposite order. Reconnect all hoses and fill the radiator (overflow tank) with straight coolant. Warm the car up to operating temp and then open the bleed valve(s). Leave them open until coolant comes out and then tighten them back down. Recheck coolant level.

You drain it, flush it, fill it up again, and then bleed the cooling system. Read the link if you don't understand my directions.
