mobs, how does your friend like the new MSD ignition? Which one did he get, i was looking at getting this if it makes a difference, and i guess i would be buying new coil packs and MSD wires as well, BIGD why do you need to replace yours?

he loves it but you got to make sure you replace to 8mm wires other wise you will burn through your wires. it increased his gas mileage a tad, adn his peformance a lot.
these are what i installed on his 03 gtp
you n eed to replace all 3, plus wires to make it work efficiently

the msd 8824 is the only one that will work on our cars. the 90 dollar one is a actual coil for a distributor system

lol cmon mobs i know where they are.......and i have taken the assembly off to get at the rear spark plugs.......i was asking if any kind of adapter, or harness is needed to get them to work on ours.......

and turtles its just something i wanna do, ive pretty much done everything besides lower and tint to the exterior and interior and some gauges......so time for engine, if i ever wanna go s/c ill be ready if i do things like this first.......new fpr, ignition system, nice plugs and wires, headers, things like that to get me ready for boost......

sorry i thought you asked where it was.. haha my bad, guess i should dobule read things

only thing it should take is like 1/8 socket to take the bolt off, unplug the plug wires and it should slide right off. put new one on, bolt it on and plug er in..

easy as pie

the reason i ask is cause our stock coil pack is one whole piece right? and the replacements are for 2 cylinders which is why we need 3......so i wasnt sure, someone needs to get some pictures up, so we can see how it was done.....

our stock coil packs are not one piece. its 3 pieces bolted to a plate. you unplug the plug wires, take teh bolt off and each one slides out.

that product shown on that link for $25 is the GM adapter for the MSD Dis-4 ignition system.

so that adapter is needed for each coil?

ok once again. each one of the packs is bolted one with one 5/32 bolt down on the bottome section and is pluged in with the plug wires...
make sure you disconect teh batery because there is a live metal plate underneath the packs that will hurt if they are still charged.

unplug wires unbolt bolts, slide off.

got it mobs, sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, looked through my hanes and it shows pictures how to remove, 4 bolts holding the entire thing, remove wires harness and its off........then 2 bolts for each coil, it makes sense now......i just didnt think they came off in pairs, i thought it was one solid plate you pulled off.....
