i have the red top in my jeep its the most awesome battery you can ever buy.
i have drained my battery so many times, thrown in on the charger over night, and the next day ts totally fine, you cant do that with a normal battery.
its awe3some. go for a red not a yello.l

for the situation you just described mobs, the yellow top would be a better choice.

you'll be fine with the redtop man
the yellow top is a deep cycle and built to last if you constantly run it dead, then charge it back up.

ok red top sounds good.......now is it the 34/78 or the 35/75.......they both have the side post, and it looks like one puts out more cca than the other.......i think its the 35, plus its terminals are a lil further apart........what do u recomend on that part?

If this is going under your hood you need to get the smaller(in size) one of the two let me go check under the hood and I'll give you a part number. The larger one doesn't fit and the smaller one fits perfectly in our battery holder. :D

It's the 35/75 that fits our battery holder. ;)

The blue top and yellow top are the same thing but has little different power terminals. Plus you get longer battery warranty with the blue top. While the yellow top is a 1 or 2 year warranty battery.. the blue top is the same as the red top warranty.

research a bit more before posting dude. the 3 batterys are totally different. read the labels on all 3. red is the lower class. yellow is a deep cycle and blue is marine
all have difference cca different outputs and acc.
the red and yellow are basicly the same minus the yellow is a deep cycle and has more ccas at load.

I don't think so the red and yellow top are the same. If u don't know A marine battery is a deep cycle battery. Optima just labeled them differently by grouping them by color tops so it makes it easier to market. If u read the site .. the light grey case is a deep cycle and the dark grey (red tops) are normal starting batteries. The yellow and blue top has the same specs.
They make the blue top in starting and deep cycle applications.
Direct from their site:
OPTIMA's D34M and D31M BlueTop batteries are dual-purpose batteries. They can be used in any deep cycle (marine accessory, R/V, trolling motor) or starting applications.
OPTIMA's 34M BlueTop battery is a starting battery. Although you can use a deep cycle battery in any application, starting batteries can only be used for starting applications.
In their FAQ section
Deep Cycle" batteries are designed for applications that require deep, repetitive amperage drain, like trolling motors, golf carts, and electric wheelchairs, or RV house power sources.
Looks like they mention RV in the blue top use
aka meaning its a deep cycle = same damn thing as a marine battery.

My red top just took a poop. Now I gotta take it out of the car again. I hate that poop.
mobs241
10-18-2004, 12:21 AM
how did it take a poop?
if it just drained take it to a auto parts store and ask them to charge it for a few hours. its a gel filled battery so you cant loose a cell.
