Anyone ever install a group 78 size battery tray in their car? I ask because I have a 34/78 Optima in mine and want it properly secured but don't have a lot of money to spend on an actual Optima tray/holder.

No one has done this?

^ I'll be honest with the few of us that are actually left and active on the forums, probably not. I know I didn't when I had mine and since I haven't owned an Alero in several years I couldn't tell you. Sorry man.

That's ok man. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to get another factory tray from the junkyard and modify it to make a D34/78 battery fit with all 4 sides intact.

No problem at all man. Nice. You should definitely make a how-to thread when you do. Might help someone else in the future if they have the same issue.

I also want to use a different battery, buy only because I hate side posts. Since my existing battery is a group 75/86DT battery, presumably a regular group 86 will fit. Issue with that is that a group 86 is not stocked or old at a lot of places, and more expensive than a regular group 75. Sometimes you just can't win!
