if anyone has been following the saga of the clicking noise in my engine...it has turned out to be a blown engine that cost 4250 to replace...but that wasn't JUST for the engine, that was for a few other things as well...there was the engine, rad flush, and the install for my new drop springs and front struts, which brought it up to be that high.

but there is one problem with the new engine...it seems to have less guts than my old one did, even though my old one had 50,000km more on it...I don't know if it just wasn't taken care of as well or what...but I know what this engine can do, and I want it back dammit....so what can I do to squeeze more performance out of the stock 2.4L without doing any real modding (too broke for that right now, want cheap fixes)?

new plugs, oil change, fuel filter?
gimmie somethin

If it's a new engine, give it time to loosen up... I noticed my sister's newer 2002 alero didnt pull as hard as my '99 alero, either. And they're both TwinCam/auto/coupe models.

I already HAVE a K&N in there

and what all gets done in a tune up?

the engine should also be plenty loose, it isn't a brand new engine, its got 72,000km on it

plugs, check boots, run diagnostics fuel filter, check fuel rail pressure, etc

it's possible that the engine that you got wasn't taking care of very well and the rings could be worn giving you less compression than your old engine. But I would still give it a good tune up. Plugs, plug boots, fuel filter change, maybe some injector cleaner, oil change, and see where that gets you

Change fuel filter, check your tranny fluid if over 80k, higher grades fuel. I found that 3 cans of oxiti-booster will help your car get a little better performance but it will hurt your engine as it causes more wear on engine walls. But hey no modds needed.
