When I got my 99 alero i noticed a small black button on the bottom driver side door trim. It appears to do nothing, as I have tried many different things. I haven't been able to trace the wires going to it and i was wondering if anybody else had it as well. I wish I could take a picture of it to show, but I do not know how to post on herre. Thanks

As in the plastic rail thingy tht you tuck all your subwoofer wires under

Maby the previous owner had a problem with the dome light staying on with the door shut so they replaced the switch? just guessing.

Who knows, take the trim panel off and look for wires. To me it looks like he had an alarm he left the switch in instead of leaving a hole in the trim panel.

seat ejection button. Don't be sittin in the seat when you press it. lol Oh wait that's the other button, I think this one is the self destruct button. Hell, I don't know I always get those two messed up.

But yeah, like Smokin said...looks like something to do with a car alarm. Odd place to put it though.

Yeah i could only follow the wires for so long, then they get lost in the jarble of other wires, i was just wondering if this was something common

Actually, thats not a bad idea. That means the control module for the alarm was probably under the drivers seat, and thus, hard to get to. Mines under the center console and you can see the ass end of it sticking out since the console doesn't go all the way to the firewall.

IF there was a alarm there it is pretty stupid place to put the switch. on my old car I didn't even have a switch the only way to shut it of was to find the power wire and yank it.

It's the passenger ejection seat like the one seen in 2 fast 2 furious. The next time you have a Cuban in the car push the button and yell NNNAAAAAAWWWWWWSSSS. He'll go flyin and explode.

I don't think we are helping much but you do need to contact the old owner...do you have an alarm or do the wires run into the fuse box? Looks like push button switch so it could be anything. okay find where the damn wires go and power test it

Yep, that way you can lower the tire pressure for going out and playing in the sand and what not.
