Intake manifold is from a 99, but motor is reported as 2002. Very suspicious.
Only way to truly verify compression is to cc the pistons, which appear very stockish. Buyer beware.

Offer him $200. It's a stock motor. 9.5:1 CR

He's asking $1200 for an incomplete motor with missing parts? I don't think so...you can do a 3500 swap for less than that.

A fresh build would be worth the grand to me man... my 2cnts.
You take a fresh build like that, get milzy's turbo set up for it, and your rockin the crap out of a lot of cars out there and have something that is going to last a few years without worry. Id take this long before taking a used one complete that is really a "complete crap shoot" as to the real condition of it. Know what I mean man?
