Ok so today my car decides it wants to over heat. Now the thermostat was replaced with a 180 degree set point. Radiator fluid is fine. Fans are running and the water pump is working. I replaced the radiator a few weeks back for the transmission line leak. Now today I decided to put in 89 octane fuel for sputtering reasons and that smoothed it out. It does fine going down the road but seems real sluggish but god help if I sit at a light. The temp skyrockets to red. Anyone care to think what might be my problem?

Air bubble is my first guess.
Did you burp the line?

I also agree, possible air bubble. Usually the bubbles work there selves out after awhile. Or you can bleed the cooling system.

I would be screwed if my coolant got a bubble in it lol the wonderful mechanic that i paid $180.00 labor to change my heater core bout 6 months ago somehow stripped out my bleeder bolt on my engine!! UGH!! Pisses me off

No bubble in the system the water pump failed. The engine radiator return line was dry as a bone and crusted with white powder. The coolant is filled to the top. Took the hose off the water pump and no flow came out.
