did you have him throw a tune on for your added toys

sleepyalero
04-03-2013, 07:45 PM
he said a tune wouldnt really do much, the car will adjust to the airflow its bringing in, but if i did a dyno tune it would be a different story. but sitting there with hpt he said it wont really do much, plus i didnt have the money for a tune as well.

but it does pull alot better now with the tb. and uim/lim

i do think that a tune would give it a little more oomf but thats just my thinking.

I wish I lived close to mms or wot tech..those manifolds are beautiful...03glgold is right, you should pick up some new injectors and get a tune..

from my understanding, the stock injectors are fine until i add bigger things, like if i did a cam, then i would upgrade injectors, right now with my setup the stock injectors are not getting over worked. so no need to upgrade yet. a tune may help a bit but who knows actually.

Very nice sleepy!

I wouldn't worry about injectors yet if I were you either.
I know with mine I get just under 80% duty cycle in 1st.

If I do any further mods I'll need injectors.
Keeping in mind I have a 3100 but that I also have port/polished heads with a valve job, milled, along with a ported UIM/LIM, headers, catback, etc. (just to give you an idea).

Keeping it clean!

I wonder if that radiator is a spare one because he knows I am biting at the bit to get one for my turbo build.

Just be aware that your stock cooling fans/shroud won't fit.
I have the Spal fan setup from Milzy to go with my aluminum radiator. I did have to get some additional mounting hardware from Spal since the ties supplied stand no chance of poking through the fins on the radiator. I also had to re-position two of the standoffs for the A/C condensor, and notch the passenger-side end tank for the upper condensor refrigerant line. The are photos of what I did somewhere on the forum.

it is not a spare, that one and one other is already sold. been sold for awhile but he just got 2 in and they are immediatly going right back out, hes still waiting on more to come in.

those radiators weigh 22.5 lbs a piece.

Thank you for that info. I knew the stock fans would not work and things would need to be changed around. I will definitely do some research and see what you have done to make it work. I have pretty much ripped out everything around them that could pontentialy cause restriction on the cooling.

Yeah he told me that he had two shipped in and that they were already gone. I was just hoping that it was a random one that just showed up. He told me though that as soon as he had a spare one I was on his list to call first thing.

He did tell me those radiators are surprisingly heavy.

It shouldn't be that surprising if you consider the following:

1. The stock radiator is 5/8" thick; the MMS radiator is a full 2" thick
2. The stock radiator uses plastic end tanks to save considerable weight
3. The stock radiator uses a tube-and-fin core, while the MMS radiator uses a much more robust bar-and-plate style.

Thats understandable. I mean my small intercooler for its size has some weight to it. I cant imagine what a whole radiator like it would be like. Hopefully MMS can get a some more radiators in soon so I can add one to my build. He said he has been trying to get a hold of the vendor on them.

Have they been redesigned to fit ? Like Matt"s ? If I am going to buy one I want it to fit like his

sleepyalero
04-06-2013, 09:54 PM
no, you gotta do a little customizing, like matt did.
