temp problem :( !

Well today i installed a new thermostat and the old one when i turned off the heat it it would go passed half way and would sit there and i put a new one in and even with the heat on it went passed way and even driving at 70 it still sits there and oil temp reads 220 when im at idle for 5min i have pics and can send them to you im here on a phone so i cant upload them but how long will it take to break in i put 10 miles on it the way its looking right now i am probably not going to ass if i have to replace the headgasgets or is it normal to see it overheat for a while for the new thermostat to break in?

lol....the new thermostat doesn't need to break in.....you either have bad LIMG or HG.

Well hopefully its not the head gasget but it could ne a possibility there is some moisture around the heads

Are the fans comng on at all?

Nope even got new relays for both fans to

This weekend or friday ima replace both head gasgets, limg, temp sensor, coolant and idle air control needed a new one anyways car idles funny sometimes

And with the fan issue ima run a power wire to them with ground to see if they work and if they do il run it to a switch but if not il get new ones

A scanner such as HP Tuners can manually switch on the fans. I don't know if a place like Autozone has that capability. Also scan it for Engine Coolant Temp (ECT) or shut it off after it heats up, unplug the ECT sensor and measure the resistance on the sensor.

It's possible that the system need to be bled or burped...
It's real quick to go and replace the head gasket after the car went from running cool to running hot after a T-Stat change...

So basically flush the system? And us there a drain spout on the bottom of the radiator?

Car overheated once for 5u min then came back down and the fans did not turn on

I don't care about that...take a extra piece of wire, unplug the connector from the temperature sensor, put one end into each of the two pins and turn the key on...then do the fans come on...my car got about half way between 3/4 and red one time since I owned it and it was because the temp sensor was bad and not telling the fans to kick on...We jumped the plug and it showed the fans worked when the circuit was completed, replaced the sensor and haven't had that issue since...the best thing about it is that it is free trouble shooting to figure out if a $30 part is part of a problem you are thinking will be much more expensive

The system is burped via. a bleeder near the water pump....
Try and search it online, I don't have a link off-hand...

If there's air in the system your car will over heat and you'll have no heat as well..

Rad fans is likely a separate issue that should be addressed as well because it will heat up when you sit around in the city.

Was the thermostat that you took out stuck open?
If not, did you test the thermostat that you took out?

I usually just put them in water in a pan on the stove and see if it opens all the way. I do that with new ones before I install them as well, just to test them.

after you turned it on no fans...that could suggest a problem with the wiring or the fans themselves after doing that and changing the relays

Then later went out and started it they kicked on for 30 seconds then shut off
