I need to get my camshaft position sensor replaced and I saw this video on youtube showing how to make the repair on a 97 3.1 grand am. since the engine are pretty similar i was wondering what I would have to do differently or how much more difficult this would be.

It's really not that bad. Look at the base of the engine and you will see the blue clip for the sensor connection. Simply remove the sensor and replace and then reconnect. I think I remember it being right under the power steering pump

That's sorta the same. The difference is the GP has a lot more room under ther hood. :D

In the video, they did not show the upper motor mount being removed or the cruise control box. You'll have to remove both of them first.

The motor mount had 15mm bolts on the mount plate (I think) and 18mm bolts on the body. The cruise control box is just held in by a clip.

You can put the cruise box aside (like around the strut mount DO NOT UNDO THE CABLE ON THE BOX, it will never work right again) You also do not have to disconnect the PS pump, just move it straight up ;)

Be sure to have a good jack and wood block holding the engine at the oil pan ;)
