Ill be painting my alero a bright blue here in the next month or so depends on how long it takes us to construct the paintbooth I just wanted to see what yall think of it if yall would think it would look good or not im thinking of doing white racing strips but im not completly sure yet ill be getting the 5 spoke rims for her and powdercoating my calipers and brackets blue possibly or something else thatll fit with it im not sure on what tone of blue i am going to be using. The rims depending on if I like them polished or not will probally end up getting powdercoated in a smoke chrome like my rangers rims, any thoughts?:)

Before doing anything serious, photoshop it! Makes things much easier to prototype so you don't spend money on something you find out doesn't really look the way you imagined.

exactly what I was thinking, or maybe it was just his bright green wheels..
anyways IMO darker colors look better on an Alero.

x2, plus metallics harder to match for repairs, right?
I used metallic once, careful as I could be but still got tiger stripes.
Also, I used the same 2.0 sprayer for primer, final coat, everything. Got severe orange peel. Took days of 1500 grit water sanding to get it looking decent, but the stripes still showed.

Production shop like a carstar would be my choice to have the paint laid on it. In a shop like that you, get a painter that that is all he does, PAINT!.. lol Don't know what its like in the states, but the two best painters in the area here work for production shops like that

Its not dull chrome its smoked chrome its powdercoating not actually chrome plating its electrically charged paint in a powder form cured at high tempatures which smoked chrome cures at 400 degrees for 20 minutes I do believe if not its 30 min

wow 2.0!!! material today is high solids high solvents and or water based now the max!! is 1.6 for primer, 1.3 or 1.4 for sealer base and clear tiger striping is caused by moving to fast then to slow and your fan patteren and overlap is way wrong
and no mettalic colors are easy to match the color red can be horrible to match your striping will never go away unless its repainted
next time use 1.4 tip for every step of the process, correct air pressure, corect fan patteren, not to much or not to little overlap
way to much info for me to type out and my hands are killing me

I know what Powdercoating is and the process and it is not the same as chroming . Your choice of words confuse those of us who understand all these processes.
Glad we got it cleared up.

why does everyone think that house of kolor is soooooo great,,,,,, when guys like me use the stuff and i personally hate it, its hard to spray i mean is if ya have no experience in automotive painting you will fuck up the paint no doubt
i personally always suggest going with a base coat like ppg dbc harliquen custom colors, or sherwin williams custom colors, both have awesome custom colors and guess what a simple base coat
but again ya need experience in painting due to the huge amount of pearl and or mettalics you will fuck up the paint ya need to know the size fluid tip air pressure, fan pattern and so on
