I'm having a hard time finding out where the fuel filter is on the car... I know there was a thread started about this... Tried searching and couldn't find it...

From what I remember it's right behind the spare tire well

Ok, so I think I WAS looking at it then... I wasn't sure... There were a lot of things under there, and wasn't sure. Going at it tonight. :)

the worst part for me was the stupid clip on the passenger side of the filter. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me and had gas running down my arm. finally realized i could pinch it and push it up. you don't need both clips that come with the new filter.

Found it, but after jacking the car up, I really can't get to it (to big to fit under the car :( ) So I'll be taking it to a cousin's house.. He's got a spot in his garage to do it without jacking the car up. I'll still post some pics and do a little how too.

Releave the fuel pressure there is a valve on the fuel rail by the power steering pump will help stop the gas shower

i don't know if they change over time but after I got it figured out disconnecting the fuel filter is cake, however the only how-to i ever saw was improperly saying how to use the clip so it took me a half an hour to figure out how it worked, when I dropped the tank to change the fuel pump took about 30 sec to unclip and slightly longer to reclip...I would advise having something ready to catch extra fuel though, and after you get the clip up, try to keep from watching the fuel filter as much as possible because if your luck is anything like mine, even while wearing safety glasses the split second that I look at it is the split second gas splatters into my eye.
After you unhook one side I would advise tilting it down as much as possible to try and drain the filter

couple of tips:
full the fuel pump relay and start the car. when the engine dies fuel pressure will be relieved.
the clip (on both of my 99s) you push INTO the fuel filter and this will release the clips holding the filter onto the line. im not sure if newer year cars have gone to the clip design that uses two tabs that you have to squese together or not.
