I found this on another site and couldnt believe it. For $350 and they are the exact design of the S&S headers its not a bad deal. The only thing is that I know OBX uses very thin material and god only knows how long they will last for. But hey it's still a good deal.

Nice to have a choice when you can't drop a grand on a set!

ooohh i might have to get those...... since mine most likely wont fit with the 6 speed.
good find! :thumb:
anyone know if S&S headers will clear most transmission swaps?

I saw those to what gauge are they?

It says the primary tubes are 16 gauge.

As the S&S headers likely do not fit with the F40, neither will these.
And their description is wrong - it says 3 O2 bungs (no EGR); the large threaded fitting on the crossover tube is for your EGR pipe; the upstream O2 is right next to it and the downstream O2 is sandwiched between the cat and the 3-bolt flange.

thanks matt. maybe i can get those un welded S&S headers on gagt instead and make em work.
and yeah that does look like an egr port.

OBX is the brand that also makes a crappy LSD for the F23 transmission. They're a Chinese brand by the way.. If I were you guys I'd stay away from them at all costs.

Holy crap!
Think they're really stainless?

Since having kids I need to be a little more frugal...lol Id make them work. If I had to polish them once a moth to make them last Id do it. Since they are stainless they would last for quite some time I bet. I would not run these on a nitrous build, but NA I would. They do look exactly like mine too, but mine I bought raw. Then just sprayed em with high temp black before I put them on. S&S I got were not stainless either and were $700.00 Candian by the time they were at my door!!

$900 for my S&S ceramic coated. It def hurt the wallet, but was well worth it :)

Idk obx has always had mixed reviews I know of some people that have had great success with there lsd's and itb's. I know they made headers for the 2.4 how have those held up?

Some fitment issues...
Mine are still leaking from somewhere (no clue where..)
The CAT isn't really a cat, practically a straight pipe..

I like how they look. If you end up in a muffler shop get a high flow cat on it now at the same time. Will save you a few buckes in the end I say bud

Bump, I'm considering these. Mike did you end up fixing them or figuring out the problem?

Well I've put about 13k on these reliably.
I think these can be run safely & reliably... My only recommendations are to get some better gaskets (snip stock ones with tin snipers?) and if you have the same fitment issue as I did with it touching the head, make a dent so it clears and put some sort of heat resistant material on the head in that area (not on the headers, they'll probably get brittle).
I may swap them out, but the only reason I'd do that is because of the fact that I want something ceramic coated... they do get HOT; however not to the point of melting things.
Really for the money they're pretty good.
I may be doing some ceramic coated S&S in the near future (or take these off, put the ding in and re-use... still undecided).
You'll see em at ASS for sure though.

Sweet! I would spray them with high temp header paint and Header wrap them. but if there is thay little clearence already i may not be able to wrap em.

Personally I'd only take something where the head is to avoid heating it up too much. Header paint should be good for the rest...
I've always wanted to try the POR15 Header paint..
I'll let you know if I'm getting rid of these. I'd be able to give you everything minus a downpipe.

Does it matter if the cat is smaller?

Your stock one?
The OBX one is a resonator..
I don't suppose it matters if yo uhave a smaller CAT, you do lose some of the flow though.
Scott cut the ends of my stock CAT out to 2.5 and I had it welded in place of the resonator on the new downpipe.

You do not want to wrap the headers at all. The heat wrap will help keep temps down but will cause the headers to wear out really fast. The money you will spend and the time to wrap them you can have them ceramic coated.

I don't think S&S makes headers for our cars anymore. I love mine though.....over 70k on them and no problems.

Wrapping looks better and its much cheaper!

Yeah but looking better is not worth the fact that the wrap will break down the metal faster then leaving them bare, painting them, or best yet coating them. I looked into wrapping my headers and what I found was to stay far away from using it on headers because it just isn't worth it in the long run.

I dont see how geting them coated makes them any cooler than wrapping though

wrapping doesn't make them cooler, it actually makes them hotter but it contains that heat and moisture inside the wrap making your engine bay cooler. in turn after the header is exposed to so much heat it starts to rust and become brittle, after a while if you try to unwrap your headers they will literally fall apart.
coating helps them retain more heat inside the pipe, your underhood temps won't be as cool as with wrapping. but it's still better than bare metal or paint, and it prevents rust.

No don't wrap them! Coating is all you need. I cant stress to you enough how bad wrapping headers is. Here these guys are the best in the business for coating. http://www.jet-hot.com/

I meant the OBX CAT. I just wondered if it hurt performance at all, but it sounds like having a shorter CAT does.

Lol!
couldn't you just make a bracket to push the pipe away 1/4 on an inch or just make a shim to place in between the header and engine body? Probably sounds stupid but whatever.
Yes I realize I quoted you lol, I thought it would add to the humor:Hammer:

Ahh... if anything the OBX rendition of a CAT was just as big in diameter and much more free flowing than a CAT!

I spoke to the powdercoating shop I deal with here and they fix a lot of Jet-Hott's problems.
If your already going to send the headers to Jett Hott which is in King Of Prussia, PA, might was well send them another 30 miles to Bonehead in Warminster, PA.
They won't be shiny, but the color will last and not discolor ;)

Bonehead does really nice work too. I just talked to them about my sway bars and lateral arms I would go with them !!! I had them do some parts for a 42 Chevy truck last year. Fast turn around. And good guys to deal with.
