i've left a bolt out/loose before and never had a manifold leak, i doubt that's what caused yours. it's just the type of gasket in your picture is junk, i've never, ever had luck with that material.

use the stock-type gasket made by Fel-Pro or something (multi layer steel)

you have a 35R with a stock engine? lol

5-8 psi is nowhere near the efficiency of the turbo, you need to up that shit to 20+, and build the engine

gt30 not r wish it was ball bearing. maybe less lag

my ball bearing one took until 4500RPM to get to 20 psi

anything under 15 psi is going to feel slower than it should though. once you pass 15 it's like a whole nother world

I have a Garrett GT35R that I have for my build and my motor has stock internals except for the valve springs.

I also have 3.4l GA.

I think the 35R on a 2.4l is over kill and wont work to well.

I was worried about it not spooling fast enough but thats what the recommendation was for my setup.

I'm using a GT3582R - 82mm -56 Trim - .70 A/R.

Factory rods are forged, makes a difference.

Oh it works well.. a few on JBO are using that class of turbo. A tubular manifold makes all the difference in the world. My 30R hits 21 psi @ ~2500 rpm.

Also a Garrett GT30 journal bearing doesn't exist. They're all ball-bearing. You have an eBay brand turbo don't you? I thought the casting looked a little different.

Yea the 35r is selling for 1600 right now if I build the block I will

Yeah I have a set of tubular manifolds for this build. I am pretty much ready to start working on it now but it's just to cold here. Even though it's stored in my garage I just don't feel like going outside and kicking on the heater.

I did read when you built your new manifold that your new setup made all the difference in it. I was going to ask if getting a antisurge housing will make a difference in spooling? Mine didn't have one when I got it but I have been looking and they are like $250. Are they worth the cash?

21 psi. That's a good number. If I turned this up that high when I'm done I would probably break something. I guess we will just have to see when it's all done.

antisurge housings will slow your spool time. i wouldn't get one if it doesn't have one already. only difference will be sound and appearance really, there isn't much benefit to cars that aren't likely to have "surge"
