Well the good news for us ecotec n-body n j-body is that, if you were piecing together the kit from a cobalt we need the adapter for T/B, this has now become available as a simple order. No more gettho fabbing it up, or trying to get a group buy.
Here is a link, btw half the price I paid for in a groupbuy, I couldnt believe this is this easy now.

X2 thank you, and I dont want to sound like i dont wanna help people here. But ill recommend keeping an eye on a part out of a cobalt, or a complete kit. Pieceing it gonna be lil harder but can be done. When I get time ill find more info or links, im in an iphone at the moment. But to name a few from top of my head.
Intake manifold + bolts + gasket.
Supercharger
Throttle body adapter(if from cobalt or not included)
Pulley tensioner + idle pulley.
Injectors 36lbs (stock cobalt ss) or stage 2 gm 42lbs... These both work with stock fuel rail no mod required.
2.5 TMAP sensor
Radiator hose
This is optional but really recommended for longer lasting
Cooling mods
Heatexchanger(svt cobra used) or zzperformance.
Pump ( stock cobalt ss)
Reservoir (cobalt ss)
Hoses

s/c or turbo?
wats the hp with each?
Power
Supercharger: some
Turbocharger: a lot more (and easy to increase power)
Installation
Supercharger: very easy
Turbocharger: moderately difficult

s/c = instant power
turbo= power lag
s/c= power from belt
turbo= power from exhaust
sooo difficult to decide

I like the sound of a sc better personally. And with my noodishness easier install is always better. What would a price difference be between the two?
And ya, thanks for the links. When I get ready to do mine hopefully this winter I'll be referring back and probably killing your inbox with questions and what not.

Tack on an extra $500 for HPTuners too!
That part should be easy, just pull a tune for a Cobalt ;)
Vic28
10-03-2011, 03:52 PM
Not it aint, no tune from any cobalt.. We are alpha-n same as j-bodies. Sucks for boost, and the gm reflash for cavalier is locked, so we cant just flash our pcm like 2.4 guys do, and tune away..

so what happens if a 2.2l guy ends up getting one of these, how can he tune, vic?

I did some checking around and was told to go find a speed shop in Indy. Of corse that doesn't help me much, I was wanting to drop this in myself. But does that link have eveyerythin? All I need is tuners? Or do we need other stuff to?

so what happens if a 2.2l guy ends up getting one of these, how can he tune, vic?
Well what happens is you tune with alpha-n which is based on RPMs vs Throttle%... so basicly not accurate with boost. Most people would tune other platforms with speed density and such, which is based on amount of air that is measured goin into the engine, but for us is not the case unless you go standalone.
There is tuners that are available but they need to be experienced with our platform (mostly j-body which is the same computer wise as n-body taking that it would be the same engine size, like v6 is not the same..). They end up using alpha-n which comes with 1 bar map sensor, and others try a "faking a 2.5 bar map(this only controls timing, not fuel)". So after all a supercharger is lil easier to tune for a tuner since the power is linear, turbo is lil bit more complicated. SO im not saying it cant be done, just have to be the right person that is already familiar with our issue. You take it to a speed shop, and they prolly wont be familiar or might even give you a garbage tune.
The tuners that know what they doin are the ones in the same forum community and know every single trick about how to do it, for example QWK LN2 (P&P Tuning) (http://www.j-body.org/reg/cavattack2000) at j-body.org. Here is something he just put together few days ago, read and it will make more sence, even tho he doesnt go in details on a 2.5 fake bar tune..

Their probably hp tuners like every one else, from my understanding all he's saying is that u got to take it to the right person to do the tune for u.

ok I know its been a while for this thread but I keep pouring over the info on late nights like this. I'll for sure be using the hpt tuners when I do mine (hopefully borrowing them from ion) and my uncle knows is exactly what he's doing with this sort of stuff and the shop with everything to do it. what im looking at now is appx. cost it would be for all parts, I think around $3000 as of right now. thats pulling some stuff of cobalt ss at the junk yard. is this a ball park estimate?
