Thanks everyone! Couldn't post til today, I changed my email. Sorry. I'm from Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
The whole car is clean. The old story... A little ole lady owned it, it slept in a garage it's whole life and she had it maintained at the Chevy Dealer. And it's actually true! Very clean. 97,000 with new brakes, tires, battery and a fresh oil change.
So of course now I want to play with it! Any suggestions would be welcome. I've been around the block a few times so I won't believe just anything I hear! lol

I think the original olds spoiler would look good. Maybe a cold air intake? Do they help mileage?

Ok. So my question was too generic? Or that I should have searched first? I did. I just would like an honest response from someone that has experience with cold air intakes. I know the concept, I understand the physics. Just would like some real time feedback from someone that has tried them on our Aleros. Money isn't the issue. I just crave the knowledge I thought you all would have. I love the look but would be very happy if performance and MPG were a part of that. I'm certainly not into "all show, and no go". Just trying to be a part of your forum guys.

Thank you. I'm just thinking about getting the K & N one. Looks good and I do trust the name. Just don't know if I can trust the specs, you know? They all say their the best. For that little money, what? Like 200 bucks? It would be worth a try I guess...

go to ebay and buy a intake for the piping, then put on a K&N filter. 1/4 the price and all of the performance.

As far as cai go...its really just a matter of what filter and what size you put on. im pretty sure u can go to your local auto parts store for the "build it yourself" piping and just pic up a nice filter.

Thanks everyone! Now I have a place to start. Two of my favorite places to shop, Ebay and the auto parts store!

Tip - 3" pipe will fit through the opening next to the windshield washer fluid tank. With some creative use of corner pieces you can run the CAI over, down and forward so the filter is getting air from the fog light area. Works great! My Ultragauge indicates an average drop of 20 degrees this way.
Welcome! Have fun with the car...

Thanks widbyj, and howdy foxsdaddy! I was born in Kansas but ended up in northern Minnesota.
I'm going to start with the CAI. Thanks for the mounting tip! Wheels and tires will set me back 1000 bucks, but really want them soon! Not going to drive my alero in the dead of winter so need to buy them quick. It snows here as early as Sept sometimes, but don't stick til Nov or so.
Thinking about a catback but seems like mixed reviews as to what kind and if it's worth it. Seems like a power chip is out, most say it's not worth it, just not sure.

Wow! Your car is sharp!
My kind of wheels, I love thin 5 spoke mags. Like a Corvette somewhat.

Ok. Question for you. I found great wheels and tires at tirerack.com. I searched for 2001 Olds Alero. When they show me the list of stuff they have... Does that mean that's the wheels that will fit? With the right offset and stuff?
I want the look that their pics show. Just not sure of my offset and that sort of thing.
