I had a question......for those who know..do you have to remove the TB to install the Hypertech Powerstat in the 3400 V6? Just a simple yes/no is all I want..I don't need instructions. THANKS!

well I am going to order my 62mm TB from RSM and I am going to get a Hypertech Powerstat SOONER OR LATER so I was just seeing if I should get it at the same time so I can just put it on while I am putting on the RSM 62mm TB.

Well if your doing the tb and then you might as well do the thermostat beause the coolant that run into the tb are going to have to be disconnected and so the coolant is going to have to be drained. So if your doin the tb, do the stat also and I hope your doin the uim also because unless portin the mani yourself then theres no point in a bigger tb.

Like skipping your spelling test; easier but not recommended. You want to learn about your car right?

well if you're going that route then it's POINTLESS to just get the UIM w/o getting the LIM also......this little "theory" of how its POINTLESS getting a 62mm TB w/out getting ported manifolds is garbage....it isn't POINTLESS becaue I have a best friend w/ a GAGT and he got his 62mm TB put on w/o ported manifolds and we BOTH noticed a considerable gain.. Granted you will benefit MORE w/ all 3 (both mainfolds and TB) but it is NOT "pointless" to just get a 62mm TB. Besides, not everyone has the cash to just buy all 3 at the same time..its all progressive..one mod at a time.

p.s. I am not trying to like snap on you..this isn't a personal thing or whatever..it just annoys me whenever someone just asks about a mod and all people do is say "ya but it only works if you get this..this..this..and this.." otherwise it's "POINTLESS". Way to support RSM, High Rev, APOC, PFYC, Dr. Speed, and everyone else who makes Alero performance parts...no1's gonna wanna buy a $200 TB if they hear they gotta spend another $400 on manifolds to make it worth buying.

AGREEABLE, 1WhiteOSV. Do what you can now and your car will thank you for it later.

I installed the RSM 62mm TB last week and I DID notice a difference in HP and torque. I only had a cheap WAI and 62mm TB and I KNOW I gained HP and torque from stock. I also put in F & R strut bars, polyurethane engine mount, and MSD 8.5mm wires. I love the throaty sound it makes too.
Anyhow, I agree with the fact that these mods are a progression. It would be nice to be able to do everything all at once, but the economic reality for most of us is one or two upgrades at a time.
BTW, anyone in Washington State, Puget Sound area here?

you may wanna post that in another forum like the "West Coast" Regional Discussions forum  Just cuz this particular post wont be read by a LOT of members. But thanks for your input on the 62mm TB, that helps a lot! I can't wait till my RSM Trans. Mount comes in..as soon as I get that I am getting my 62mm TB.

And all I was sayin that you are not going to get all that you could get if you at least ported the uim to match the tb becuase the manifold is going to slow the air and and create alot of unwanted turbulance.

right...but for the time being it will be okay and I will still gain SOMETHING over the stock setup (I know this 1st hand). I will get to the P&P Manifolds.
