I want to Seafoam the alero but I wasn't quite sure how to do it. I searched the forum and found a couple threads but I couldn't really find anything specific for my engine. If someone could give me a rundown of how to do this, with pictures if possible, that would be great. Thanks!

open the can of seafoam, pull a vacuum line, I always use the one coming off the brake booster... hold the engine at 1500 - 2000 rpms so it doesn't die out, pour half the can into the line, re attach vacuum line, go for a short 5-10 minute drive, repeat with second half of the can

I thought you would pour 1/3 into the gas tank, 1/3 into the crank case, and 1/3 into the vacuum (as you stated above).

i have heard that you can add it to the gas tank also, and now that i think of it i've done that once 1/2 in vacuum, half in tank, but i've never heard of putting it the crank case...

There was a video on youtube of someone who had an alero and said they put some into the crank case. I wasn't sure about that, so I wanted to post here and ask lol

So, how would you recommend that I do it?

I put a can in my gas tank once and it was totally worthless, just do the vacuum line and if you really want you could do the oil but make sure you change it in like 200 miles.

The FPR vac line is easier to get to and sucks just as well. lol.

For future reference, where is this located?

On the 2.4 you can actually just pour it down the TB slowly. That's not feasible on the 3400.

For future reference, where is this located?

Fuel pressure regulator line hooks to the FPR thats on the fuel rail. Its near the oil fill cap.

Alright thank you, I'll have to look for that next time I have the hood up.

Do you have a 3400 or 2.4? I wrote a how to on this...

I have the 2.4, which is why I posted here. But I'm pretty sure I read your how to but it was for the 3400.

Yep, poor attention to detail on my part. Best of luck finding the intake but everything else on the how to is solid.

Sorry to threadjack, but while we're on the topic of seafoam...I was thinking of getting a new catalytic converter and I also wanted to seafoam..do you guys think it would be better to seafoam on the old cat instead of the new one? I've heard some people say seafoam is notorious for clogging cats.

I've done it to 5 cars, one car twice, never had any problems with a single one

So either way, you think it wouldn't matter?
