Wiper switch compatibility

Is there a difference between the standard tranny and auto tranny wiper switch assemblys? I need to buy one to pass a safety as they don't accept me bypassing it with a switch on the dash for a safety inspection. I have been looking online and they are hard to find but some say auto...so I figured there was a difference. Also does anyone have any suggestions on where to find something like that online for cheap?

Is there a difference between the wiper/headlight switches for canada and usa because of daytime running lamps? I see them online for 50 bux in the usa but 230 in canada! In order to pass a safety I need the daytime running lamps. Thanks.

Why not just use the stock switch for the wipers? I would think they are the same regardless if it's automatic or not. I'm a little confused as to what you did.

The washer fluid button crapped so I wired in a doorbell switch in its place beside the switch lol, safety guys don't like it. So I have to replace the headlight/wiper combo switch both sides are all one piece. I figured as long as your washer fluid worked somehow it would be alright, but I guess you need the proper stock switch :-) The wiper motors speeds took a crap again...only have high speed, Whats with the wiper motors wheel bearings and brakes on these cars, they just don't last or fail some way or another. Oh well its cheaper than buying a new car!

i dont have any of your problems, i have changed 2 wheel bearings and a set of brakes. but in the 80xxxkm i put on in 2.5 years i can see that

The wiper motor problem could be related to the water leaking onto my floor from somewhere maybe it gets into the area with the wiper motor as well who knows...all in all I guess aleros only have a few weakness's and regular upkeep, like other vehicles. Must say my battery is still going on the original since 2001 so thats pretty good especially in my climate, same with the suspension components including struts, although they are in poor condition...at least the mounts are..lol

It varies from 106-130$ at an auto part store for the wiper swith/turn signal switch I had to replace mine about 15,000 miles ago

I ended up ordering it from canadapartsonline.com for under a 100 because everyone around here was quoting me well over 200. I am totally against ordering stuff online because of the hassles of returning stuff but I am taking a chance. lol

I've only had maybe 3 problems with ordering stuff online. It is a hassle, but if you do your research and stay in constant communication with the seller, you should be fine. All 3 of my problems were resolved without any major complications.

If it's anything like most cars, when water gets in it's because you let leaves and stuff clog up drain holes inside the fenders. When that happens, when it rains the water backs up into the HVAC intake there on the outside of the car, near the bottom of the windshield. Sometimes snow can do the same thing, even with the drain holes working properly. It's hard to describe all of this unless you remove some stuff though.
