from what i'm told, cuz i don't know my weekends, sept 3-5 is labour day weekend, which is probly no good...right?

Just checked some rates of the Thirftlodge on Clifton Hill (checked via website (http://www.travelodge.com) )

4 Person: $246.40

Sept 24-26
1 Person: $214.40

I dont know if we can get any discounts for multiple rooms (sorry work is interferring with my research here), and I couldnt take the time to check. But when we get a better idea of whos going etc. we can see how many rooms we'll need and see if they'll give us any price breaks.

Ok gang, this is damn-near in my backyard, so I can't possibly miss this. :P ( hopefully Albino can make it too, we live 20 minutes apart, and I haven't met him yet ) First thing on my mind is this: I'd probably just meet you guys out there during the days, and drive home @ night. Labor day weekend's kinda busy for me, but the other 3 sound cool, just gimme a heads-up. Also, cash is kinda an issue, ;) so if you guys can put a dollar amount on what we'd do, it would help ALOT.

In an effort to try to get as many of you fockers out as possible, most people agree that the 24th weekend is better now, even tho our poll suggests we do it on the 17th. So who wouldn't be able to make it on the last weekend? If more people not just prefer it then but are ACTUALLY gonna make it out , then lets do it then. Everything i've read on this poll and the toronto thread suggests that both weekends are okay with people that voted for the 17th.

Remember the drinking age is only 19 over here, and you can pickup a case of CANADIAN beer at the customs with a real alcohol content for less then $20US. be careful tho, i seen alot of big americans get real stupid on canadian beer, 2 years ago a bunch of drunk southpaws flipped over a new jaguar parked at sherkston beach, just cuz it was there. I posted some prices for the Thirftlodge which last September (last meet) and Last July was the cheapest on the hill. Maybe the rates for other places have dropped.

Cant speak for anyone else but I really liked the Thirftlodge with the Beer Garden/Pizza Pizza in the parking lot. And the karaoke provided large quantities of amusement and entertainment.

Like last year I will likely take a room to myself. I like my privacy, and besides I snore louder than a pack of Ricers so I dont think anyone else would appreciate it.

I'll try and get a list of activities for people that wanna do stuff in the area, besides drinking and frollicking. And mike you can bring your griend if you want because theres lotsa rides and museums and stuff she could check out as well as shopping. Plus we can drink at the hotel before we go out.

well the older casino is less then a block away from the hotel on clifton hill but the new one you have to drive to. You can walk there during the day, its 4 or 5 km away, but its not that bad a walk. Parking is expensive and hard to find too, but it is around if you look hard enough. The new one is nice to see, but i prefer the older one myself.

oh yeah - i was in niagara this past weekend for a stag..

we got 2 rooms at the Park Place hotel for $138+tax/night/room for 4 ppl (2 dbl beds per room) -- i think it was on lundy lane.. but it's near clifton hills/fallsview blah blah.. dunno if that will help you guys out...

FYI niagara fallsview casino (the new one) is more expensive than old casino.. everywhere i went (@ 4am), cheapest table minimums were $25.. whereas at old casino some table min's are like $10 bux....

Some of the hotels offer a discount if you have CAA. Theres another hotel right across the street from the thriftlodge, and it has a much larger parking lot, i always see car meets happinin there (oldtimers, corvettes, PTCruisers). Its across the street from rumours as well, still nice and close to everything. I'll scoot over tonight and see what the prices are like there, just for more options. How many rooms do you think we'll need, it might be cheaper by number and letting them know a little further in advance.

Alright, just got back from clifton hill. got some prices for those that are staying, these are for the weekend of sept24/25th. Prices are for 4 people to a room, 2 double beds, although we could sneak more in if we had to

THRIFTLODGE is where we did it last year, next to the beer garden fri/sat $116/$125 includes parking for 1 car per room, extra cars $15-$20 per car and there is limited parking.

COMFORT INN is behind rumours(a little further away from the main street)fri/sat $136.95/199.95. They have an indoor outdoor pool here and this price includes breakfast. Huge parking lot, but rooms are not next to our cars.Extra cars $20.

QUALITY INN is the one i recommend. Its across from the Thriftlodge and the beer garden, less then a block away from Rumours Night Club. fri/sat $109.95/$179.95 and this includes one car per room. Extra cars are only $5 each and we can all park together and sit in the massive parking lot and drink there without any problems. BONUS Don't get stuck next to the Kareoki all night listening to horrible singers, but its just across the hill if we get drunk enough and want to walk over.

I also checked out 2 other hotels on Clifton hill but they were way out of our price range.

What do you guys think?

Well, I think I've pretty much let it be known that I like the Thirftlodge. It was alot of fun there last year and the Karaoke beer garden was half the fun. Especially since it was a short walk home after the round of pitchers and the beer police episode.

And again, I'll likely take a room for myself. I like my privacy, and I dont get much at home so I need it when I go out. :lol:

My vote is for the Thirftlodge, but I'll follow the crowd if its decided to stay elsewhere.

As for the hotel, according to the Travel Lodge website the ThirftLodge has at least 5 rooms available, and theres nothing at the Travel Lodge (the one on clifton hill, didnt check the other on Lundys Lane)

Looks like thriftlodge is the only one with rooms still available. If you give your credit card to them I think it just holds the room, then you can collect funds at the meet and pay for it in cash. I have all kinds of tools at my place and i'm only five minutes from the hotel, if anyone feels like they wanna mod and not in the parking lot they can come over to do it at my place. I'll post my phone number in a couple of weeks, i know the area pretty well and you can call me if you get lost.

Just called Thriftlodge (well... when you call you get the travel lodge but tell them you want rooms for thriftlodge). I asked about 3 or 4 rooms and was told that wouldnt be a problem, but the travel lodge is comepletely booked that weekend which means (from what the chick told me) that the thriftlodge would be filling up quick.

I'm probably going to call back tonight for a reservation.

One quick note. Looks like the website lied to me regarding the pricing. So any pricing I have on page 1 = wrong. Sorry.

Me and Mike(malero) are just staying friday night there... and leaving late saturday night .. and i think Jen and Geoff are doing the same.
Everyone else is staying friday night and saturday night...
Times are gonna differ for everyone getting there friday night.
