its setting about half way for a lil wile then at hwy speeds raises up one to two dials. i am getting very worried about this! had the heads checked/cleaned and darn positive of no leaks/air in the system. only thing i haven't changed is the thermostat. oh yeah i also flushed the coolant system. and seeing how the fans were not coming on as suppose to i devised a way to have the one fan that runs at higher speeds, #2 i believe to come on when the fuel pump comes on to avoid the a/c only issue. so is this the normal temp for the 3400, or am i missing something? :banghead:

well, depends on where the needle sits, mine sits about a needle's worth below half at crusing, traffic it goes up to 1/2 way betwen 1/2 and 3/4th's, and then the highspeed fans kick on and it goes down. so. take mine into consideration. mine will hover around and above the 1/2 way mark in S&G traffic though

that sounds like what mine (the wives:( ) is doing. humm well i am gonna change the the thermostat and see what gives. i have a feeling the t-stat might not be opening all the way, the car set for a long time before we "rescued it. lol had a lot of dexcool/ oil in the water build up in it so i am thinking that maybe thats whats causing the issue. thanks man for the super fast response!!

Flushed the coolant and didn't a new thermostat in? Silly! lol, agree I'd give that a shot, especially if the cooling system was very iffy to begin with.

Turn on the A/C fans kick on right away ;)

I 3rd putting in a new thermo. $10 and doesn't hurt.

How much coolant is in the bottle when cold? is the car spitting coolant?

It does sound like there is some air in the system. Change the thremo and bleed the air ;)

i fixed it i fixed it! when i re wired the fans only one was coming on off the fuel pump well after some investigating i found out that the fan mode rely was keeping both from coming at the same time. so i simply bypassed the relay and toke out fan relay one rewired and added a nother relay so now both fans are on wide open. temp stays just under the half way mark now. at wot for some time it goes to the half way mark but never above :)
