View Full Version : Oil Level Issue
So i was checking the fluids today and as i checked the oil it showed that is was at the min point. I know when the oil was changed it was at the max point. I have these pictures and I am just curious if that the dark spots are suspect to an oil leak.

Check your spark plugs and see if there is oil on them.
And if there is oil on them?

Then your gaskets are shot I believe. In any case, oil is not supposed to be leaking into your spark plugs.

Those dark spots don't represent much oil. Maybe a dozen drops but that isn't where your quart went. How may miles did it take to lose the quart?
You might gently snug the valvecover bolts a little and wipe off the dark spots.

The discolored spots on the uim are from fuel. Probably leaking injectors

i was referring to the stains on the UIM.. not valve cover. (i checked from my phone, didn't see the valve cover stains)
those... probably oil. go with whats already been said.

You might take a close look for oil underneath the engine. If it's leaking you'll see it somewhere. If there's no leak and it isn't adding to your anti-freeze then it's being burned and going out the exhaust. How many miles on the engine?

Close to 167,000 kms. Just seems like every month something needs to be fixed. I love my car but man its a money pit.

Hopefully you'll find an easy leak to fix. If not, maybe the usage won't get worse and you can add a quart between changes and maybe use something heavier (10W-40 or ?) during warm weather.
I was talking to a guy at work today and he told me to check for white smoke coming out of the exhaust. So I check and I have white smoke. So this is my antifreeze burning. So am I looking at the lower head gasket again? Or is there a simple solution, like a store bought additive. Something that would stop the antifreeze from getting where its not suppose to go. I really don't want to change the LHG again in just over a year.
