I was wondering what exactly is needed to remove the IAC Valve. I've done the searches and all i get are two threads that don't deal with removal and replacement. I was wondering if anyone had some detailed info...

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys,

Ra

straight from the Haynes Repair manual Chapter 6 pg 13 (you should get one, it comes in handy!:rolleyes2: )

The IAC is located at the TB(Throttle body)

1.) Disconnect the electrical connector from the IAC Valve
2.) Remove the 2 mounting screws from the valve and withdraw it from the TB.
3.) install is reverse

Note if your installing a new IAC valve measure the tip of the pintle to the mounting flange - press the pintle in until the distance is less than 1 1/8 inch.

*Do not attempt to press the pintle in on a used IAC valve. The force required to move a pintle shaft with carbon build up may damage the valve.

^^^ What he said works. I replaced mine a week or two ago and now idle is much smoother with better high/low control. Mostly a good cleaning is all that would be necessary (I had scored a new corvette throttle body, stole the IAC and TPS for my car, tossed the throttle as too big - 75mm)

Calm down please about the throttle body. I paid under $50 including shipping and got the IAC and TPS which are worth much more than that new from GM. Body was too big to be practical IMO, would have needed a custom adapter at least. I still have it on the shelf if you want to offer $ for it...

Are there any benefits from running these off a vette? What year vette did it come off of?

Spy - I'll bring it to ya when I go that direction unless you need it soon...

Amun - No advantage, appear to be the same items as they fit the same and according to the car they work the same. I knew my IAC was bad/sticking and my son 'swears' he was feeling a 'flat spot' in the throttle sensor (huh?). So this was a reasonable way to eliminate two problems at once. I kinda hoped the TB would have fit but it only has three bolt holes, etc.... would need to make a 3/4" or 1" aluminum plate into an adapter to work properly so it just sits for now....
