HID Kit with D2R bulbs

Hi, I've read alot about the HID kits some people here have. Now I got some questions of my own,

First of all what I intend to do.
Retrofit the '79 Camaro and my '99 Alero with HID's.
But I have to be sure to maintain the stock European Light pattern that my cars have.
After some research I found that D2R (the bulbs with the metal brace) bulbs are intended to be used in reflection type headlights.
But after searching some manufacturer HP's I've seen that many H4 and H1 bulbs are the D2S (without anything) bulb types.
Using D2S bulbs in reflection style cases produces a glare and blinds oncoming traffic.

So my question is.
Where to get a kit with D2R bulbs.
Is the beam pattern really the same?
Who has D2R bulbs in his car?

And with what kind of test procedure I'll have to cope, every two years.

Can someone upload a pic of the light pattern of a D2S bulb in such a testing machine (see crappy little pic) ???

i've been working on the same issue for a while, i'm building custom glare shields, i've been experimenting with different types of shielding and bulbs for a few months now. i'll post more later.

Why are u experimenting with them??
There isnt much choice if you want to change the lighting. Except your engineering some of your one.

ohh come on, so many people have HID's in their cars. Someone has to know something.

he seems to be a vast source of knowledge on techy things like this.

yes i'm working on my own. i have been through masking off the bottom section of the reflector housing, i have even built a temporary wall in front of the hid bulb like a projection housing, but nothing has worked as good a the glare shields im building so for, but im still testing.

Ich hab HID's im mein alero und hab ich auch im deutchsland gewohnt. Wenn ich war dort, hab ich kein problems mit TUV fur HIDs in mein auto, had ich eine Lancia Delta.

Ich hab keine anung fur was dir wolten aber, ich weiss dat du kannst kaufen HID's von Ryanfromohio in diese forum, setz im deine auto und wann die zeit fur TUV kommt, mach der lichtung normal fur dein auto. Folgen TUV, mach der auto weider HID's und dann fertig. Das ist super einfach und brauchs du veileicht zwanzig minuten zum HID umbauen. Hab ich der einstellung write-up (sorry forgot the word) irgendwo in deisem forum.
Velliecht kan das hilfe order nicht.

wow hatte nicht erwartet hier auf einmal eine deutsche Antwort in einem amerikanischen Forum zu lesen.

Naja das Problem is nich so ganz der TÜV, mir geht es hauptsächlich darum eine wirklich gute Cut-off linie zu bekommen, damit ich das beste aus diesen Lichtern bekomme und auch kein Polizist auf die Idee kommt mich zu kontrollieren.

Und "es einfach mal zu probieren" klappt eben hier in D nicht, dafür ist das zu teuer.

Wow hadn't expected a German answer in an American forum.

The problem is not the TÜV alone, my point is to get a pretty good cut-off line, to get the most of HL and no cop is pulling me over.

And "just to try" isnt going to work here in Germany, its just too expensive.

I don't think with the current lens and reflector you will get a good cut off. There will always be distortion and some glare.
Please bare in mind that when installing HID, the lights should also be aimed lower, due to the fact that HID has even more glare!

Ich muss auch sagen da ich bin ein hundert % amerikanisch. Hatte ich eine deutsche verlobte und sie kennst mich die sprache. Ich bin nicht so gut aber ich hatte auch nicht fur 5 jahre nicht in deustchland. Will ich IMMER zu hausen kommen.

Anyway,
When I was in Germany the polezei didn't really bother me and I had no cut-off line. I didn't have projectors either. I just bought HIDs and installed them in my car and then lowered the aim, as ducthie said. It looked good and kept the poliezei away. Of course if and when you do this, just go to a polizei station and ask them to come look at your car and if you will get into trouble. Most of the time they will be nice enough to tell you.
