Well... she's down and out... i have 1,500 to work with... EVERYTHING is getting fixed...
start off... engine..
Headgaskets..
i was driving, yesdarday, With Ttop191..and the low coolant light came on..
after doing a redoculus Acell out of a stop light.. well. he got me some coolant.. and i filled it to the neck of the surge tank (the surge tank was also all black, it's brand new) and all that come out was a flurry of bubbles.. uh oh...
got it home... got progressively worse, and i checked everything...
all points to a front head being blown on cyl's one and two...(reason for P0202 for ages....) so.... pics for your enjoyment...

How long were you driving on that old blown gasket?
Nate's Alero

How long were you driving on that old blown gasket?
mmmmmmm, maybe three months with a VERY VERY VERY slight leak (i used to have to top off the coolant, maybe every month....,and this past week it became hard to start.. i knew it was gone and kept checking different things like the oil, and coolant, so not long..and the last day was the day it officially blew... so i limped it home (not very bad, still no smoke/overheating) and parked it and tore it apart

Sounds like you've had some bad luck with the car lately, last thing I'd want you to have is bad bearings later on.

well at lease he is fixing it not junking it. were are you going to fix the car.
oh, haha....i've done countless HG's.... it's like butter for me.... one Q already.... WTF is that big silver ring in the HG kit for?
From what i saw in your pics it looks like the ring spacer for the headgasket, what did the parts list on the box say?
i bet its for the exhaust flange near the stat housing...

I hope he does get it right this time. But this is just temporary because I am going to help him build the engine in the spring and summer. nate did u get the MLS gaskets.
Ryan from Ohio
01-01-2010, 01:38 PM
For that he would be better off finding another engine to use.
So hes got a back up plan.

If your using the gaskets you have pictured above then your using the worlds worst gaskets. As ryan stated "I hope you dont intend on installing those SHIT LIMG's into that motor!
Thats almost a damned crime!"
You have been on Aleromod enough to know the plastic gaskets are junk and you just wasted money.

I thought that he would have gotten the MLS gaskets.
Ryan from Ohio
01-01-2010, 10:45 PM
Nate just got pimp slapped by stupidity.
I hope he pulls through with the proper gaskets. Buying a set with the shitty LIMG was silly though. Just the plastic ones run like $50ish... Im sure that cost was included in that kit...
Fel-pro has the best you can buy depending on the application, there maybe others sold at different auto parts store's...
I used the LIM kit from felpro and i didn't have any issue's...

My buddy did that on a GP 3100 engine... nothing but troubles with the pushrods.
The ones that were sent were too short ( sounded like a damn diesel, LOL!), and the stock ones... although they SEEMED to be just a hair longer, ended up bending for something..
What a pain :S
At least your is working.. so far, aside from gasket troubles.
Nate's Alero
01-02-2010, 04:03 PM
anyone know anything about the heater core hoses? they're like a quick disconnect...and i disconnected mine and now it's wont stop leaking, is there like a gasket i need to replace?

Should have an O ring in there with a quick disconnect setup. You can't seal metal to metal easily without one.

People usually use dry shots with cause them to go lean which leads to detonation.
