changed my low beam bulbs today and found this. what caused it or how did it happen? the bulb wasnt burnt out if it helps.

too high a current draw for the alero's harness, 55 watts for a long time is too much

same thing happend to mine after changing the bulbs, had to splice in a new harness in the assembly

not hardly. 55 is the stock voltage draw that should never have happened with a 55w bulb.

Dirt of corrosion causing resistance to build up on electrical connection. This causes a voltage drop over the electrical connection which dissipates in the form of heat. Too much heat will melt or burn the connector.

to be honest I was 19-20 and dont remember, but probably

didnt matter since less then a year later i upgraded to HID

35W hids, are great, not too bright, not too dim

im ordering my hid's next week so hopefully it doesnt get effed up any more till then. i know i need to replace the socket but do i really need to put a whole new lead on it or can i just put a new socket on?

u can put a new plug on the end of it you dont need to replace the entire line, but im sure thats going to be around $35 at the stealership better off putting it towards your HIDs

like I said i just spliced the plug and couple inchs of wire into it....like 5-10 bucks for the plug

^^ ya gunna put it towards the hid's cause the lights still work so im not too worried about it
