I just had new rotors, put on all around, and both front hubs replaced. Willt he ABS / TRAC OFF lights go off eventually, or does the code have to be cleared? Can a basic OBDII reader do it, or does it require a mechanics big expensive one? As usual, any and all help will be appreciated.

I dont think there is a reset for it, and sounds like if the trac light wont go off (and you have tried the button) then the sensors may not have been hooked back up...or damaged. I could be blowing air out my butt, but i thought there was some sensor oe even the stability system attached somehow to or near the hubs......anyone wanna confirm/deny?

Hub LOL
Um ck and make sure the hub arent unplug...if they are then plug them in.
if they are plug in then you have a hub bearing.

I just had TWO new hub bearings put on, and the mechanic assured me the wires are okay, and the plugs are connected. He seemed to think I needed the big machine to reset the code, But I thought it might just take a while to realize that things are working again. If the light DOESN'T go off, what type of machine is needed to reset the code? If I get it reset, and it comes back on, then I know I have further problems. Maybe I'll throw my laptop on it, and see if some of the programs I got can read those codes. If I'm not mistaken, the handheld OBDII scanner I bought didn't read those codes before??

When I replaced my hubs, the lights went off the first time I started the car. Maybe some connections in the sensors are corroded or something, or maybe check the fuses ?

or disconnect battery for a couple mins and let it sit for a bit then connect back up. i cant imagine this being any dif then a "big" scanner

yeah i'm having the same problem... i've replaced the hubs now countless times trying to fix it. finally got it diagnosed as passenger side front (which i've already replaced 4 times), but i'm getting used to the lights. they're my friiieeeeeends.

it takes so many good (no detected problems) on/off cycles before the light will go out. other than that just get any scanner to shut it off.

Well why the heck wont they turn off? Cant the code be cleared before the key cycles from a Tech2?

could your rear hub sensors be bad? There are other components of the ABS system that can fail too. Only way to know would be a tech II scan.

check the wires. i found on my passenger side that the wires were broken inside. so i had to fix it. that helped for a while...

Turns out there was a broken wire on the left, the side I ran over a deer with. Mechanic fixed it up for me, and my Xmas tree is now gone!! Gonna miss those little guys. :(
