so recently my car now makes a growling noise when idling. you can hear it in the car. from the outside it sounds normal. under the hood sounds normal when you rev it aswell. but inside it sound lower and like a growl. it seems to come and go with the rpms. when it's cold it doesn't really do it. when it warms up it does it more
what causing this. i replaced plugs and recently did an oil change.
i'm thinking plugged cat. or fuel filter.
what do you guys think

lol. can't say i've ever heard of that. it almost sounds like something is rattling somewheres. it's making the noise, but if i slowly give it gas it goes away. let off the gas and it comes back. so maybe not enough fuel?

Ecotec are known for being lil noisy lol... I cant tell just from wording, unless maybe I see a video. Mine usually growls a bit but for me is the damn Power Steering pump, but that would be the other way around, you should hear it outside more than inside.

get a vacuum gauge, and hook up to the other HVAC port (next to the PS pump, that was used on the venture, and the other HVAC port was capped) hook it up, and watch for wobble in the needle, does the whistle change with throttle?

Mine was doing that whistling noise when idling just before the alternator went... maybe coincidence ?

Spray carb cleaner around suspected leak areas. If the noise goes away, or the engine RPM changes, you've found a leak.

mine doesn't make a noise under the hood. can hear light ticking from motor, but i suspect that it is just the valves or something. and the inside it almost sounds like something is rattling a little

yeah, a Tbelt/chain driven water pump, for some reason, the sound cannot be heard inside the engine bay, but can be heard clearly inside the passenger compartment

no it does not changed with throttle it goes away then comes back as you et off it until you drive it a mile or so... it starts doing it after idling about 5 minutes or more... and comes on like a teapot boiling starts quiet then gets louder then dies off then repeats itself til you drve it about a mile
