Probably have to remove the console, won't be hard once you find the all the bolts.

I'll take a look at that later.

I put the new hand brake on, but theres a whole bunch of slack in the cable, does any-one know how to get rid of the slack?

If i understand there's an auto tensioner that will takeup some of the slack.

Put your car in reverse and back up slowly, while pulling the hand brake on and off and you're moving.

Blueolds,

I currently have the same issue. Can you tell me what was the cause and fix?

Thanks,

Benny

when you install a new handbrake, there is a procedure in the gm service manual that tells you how you need to re-wind the tensioner spring. i don't have access to the book anymore, but i'm sure someone on here can chime in and post it. after that it is auto tensioning.

Hi jayson_waltz,

Does the entire handbrake assembly need to be replaced?
