well first you need to make turbo headers or pre order them through the dying group buy....also will need a custom fabbed downpipe.... alot of money and knowledge
then you will ned all custom setup of intercooler piping and mounting .
then tapping into oil and vacuum lines for the turbo and wastegate / boost controller....
some members on here say 6-9 psi on stock 3400 i think i read somewhere someone pushing 12 but i believe intrnals had been done...
also your tranny may not last too long after.
and on top of all that you need a custom tuned pcm...
by your post i say you are not that educated on the turbo process or what is involved in one... but this is a great place to learn about that

assuming you get the setup down.. more boost would probably require better gaskets, forged internals etc..

Before you worry about more boost worry about the trans. The engine will take up to 12-15 that I have seen on a spot on tune, but the trans will start to go at 5psi. Engine wise higher boost will require much larger injectors, forged low comp pistons. MLS or copper head gaskets. ported everything, otherwise why waste time on a turbo unless you are going to upgrade the other stuff.

okay so if i were to start out by buying a 3500 uim and a race/boost 3400 lim, plus the turbo headers, would that be a step in the right direction? if so what should i get after that? i dont plan on buying the turbo until the engine is modified to handle it, so i wont worry about a new tranny until then either. if this is a bad idea please tell me, i want to know the best route to making this happen.

just tell me exactly what i would need to buy, pre-turbo. just the necessary things before the actual turbo could be installed. thats where i want to start.

i told you .. you can install one on stock. its just a matter of how long it will last.. so bare minimum would be as follows
turbo
wastegate if not on turbo
manifolds
downpipe
charge piping
air filter
IC
oil feed and return lines
and tapped vacuum lines.
and a rough pcm tune,
will work but granit probably not for long at higher boost....
take all the above, and add,
forged internals
upgraded gaskets
premium fuel
bigger injectors
etc...
then it would start working stronger

okay got it, so what turbo should i start off with? should i go small or get something larger and bring out more power in it as i continue to modify.

start will a small turbo and if you want up grade later to bigger turbobut i would built the engine before u put a big turbo in.

the question is how much money are you thinking you want to spend for a setup? what you say is fair?

who are you having do the work?

haha yeah a great paper weight =) so if i get the turbo, ill need a wastegate, manifolds, all the piping...and whats an IC?
then after that i need to do all the oil feed lines and vacuum lines.
i was planning on doing the project on my own. i wouldnt try it without knowing exactly what i was doing and having expert advice though. for the piping would it would have to be done custom at a welding shop or no?
