Need some help...what is this pipe for?

I did some work the other day on the Alero and I noticed this pipe not connected to anything. It looks like a vacuum pipe. Sorry they are cell phone pictures.

The best guess I have from the pics is that it's for the A/C.

Is it aluminum, roughly 1/2" and going into the firewall?

The pics are kinda too close up.
