The downstream O2 will not read correctly on anything other than a factory GM cat.
Get an O2 simulator for the downstream, or a PCM reprogram to delete it, that's the only way to get rid of the P0420 you're getting
PFYC.com used to sell one, I don't know who does anymore ;) Actually the Government and the EPA shut that part of Casper down. Maybe the "resistor" trick will work

the only way you will fail emissions is if the cat is actually bad and that depends on the type of emissions check they do, tail pipe sniffer or OBDII.

Borrow HPTuners and disable that code.. it's not an important code at all...

Nope, had a tuned PCM for years now and my car passes, and that's here. SE PA emissions are only 2nd to Cali emissions ;)

Open the VCM Editor. Go to Engine Diag-->DTCs.
Go to P0420, uncheck SES Enable. Click on the Error Mode and change it to 3 - No Error Reported.

Lucky...not in Missouri. If you replace the cat period you fail emissions.

If you replace the cat when it fails it's legal.... and for an OBD-II compliant catalyst.

HPTuners and tune it for your vehicle specifically. No mail order tune will do a good job on your specific vehicle.

You do a lot better than any "shift kit" when you edit the computer with HPtuners.

So then my question to you is how do you induce failure? :P ... I'd love a high flow cat. ...damn legalities.

Dude just replace your cat. High flow ones are typically illegal anyway because they don't convert as well as regular ones. As long as the cat is OBD-II compliant and whatever, it's legal. In California it has to be CARB exempt.

My OBD-II compliant Catco converter was $60 from AutoZone. Now I have piping where the cat once was, which is even better.

spend the money man, I've been cramming as much info as I can find on the program and it's worth it you can do so many things, some you wouldn't even think about. I don't have HP tuners but it's next on my list.

yeah why not, it's a glowing cork, turbo's like the maximum velocity and flow in the exhaust
car is still insanely quiet since i got the wastegate dump hooked up to the exhaust, you would not believe how silent it is. seriously. all there is is turbo spool sound now.

I have all cat related codes disabled.
I'll be taking vids very soon. A few little things to fix then it's off to the track and flyby videos. But trust me, after the initial spool, there isn't much to hear. A very faint whistle at WOT... everything is so quiet. I've shocked everyone who's gone for a ride so far. You hear barely anything yet the car moves out. I really kinda like it this way. At normal driving around you hear the turbo a ton, but once you put the pedal down, the car gets quieter and it's like a silent killer lol.
