Ok I have owned my Alero (99 with 168,000kms)for a little over a year now car has been running great until last month or so .
first I need to understand how the traction control works in our cars
from what I can tell it tied into the fuel system some how ?? is this true
my 2nd question is my car has lost power there almost no pick up now, I have just put in new plugs what else would you replace? fuel filter is next
please help :(

have you checked your fuel pressure ? how many miles are on the car?

The traction system works by comparing the ABS sensors to detect wheel speed and measures the diffrence between them in relation to the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). If it detects a large diffrence it limits power, by limiting fuel to the engine. If you had a faulty ABS sensor or VSS, could make the Trac system get faluty signals and limit fuel.
However this seems unlikely, most instances on here, with bad wheel bearings and the ABS and Service Engine light on, dont usually have driveability issues uunless another system is also affected.
Why or how did it suddenly not run right, what changed, any indicator lamps on or had been on prior to it running strangly?

I'm also wondering if you still have the original wheel bearings in the car. I'm inclined to think that you have more than one problem. Maybe even wheel bearings and maybe LIMG. Check your oil cap!
