anyone know the size open end wrench to get fuel filter off? i cant any kind of wrench pliers to fit up there what a b*tch. only thing that might work is what haynes says use open ended wrench but it doesnt give the right size? theres the nut on the fuel filter then the one on the gas line right after it? 16mm and 13mm maybe?

5/8" or 16mm on the line bolt, and 20mm on the filter side bolt.

What you need is Flare wrench, a regular wrench only catches on 2 sides, and run a high risk of stripping the nut.

I don't recall what size it is, but for cheap, you can get a set, that if youre doing that kind of work, you'll be sure to come accross again.

You don't need a line wrench. There is no way you can strip the filter bolt with a 20mm wrench, but it is safest to use a 5/8" on the line bolt.

You say tomato, I Say to-mato, I see messed up self repair attempt every day in the shop. I'll concede that you don't need a line wrench, but it's recomended.

Yeah well I've only done it a thousand times or so without using line wrenches. And anyone can fuck something up if they don't know what they're doing. But given a filter and line that is not rusted out, 16mm and 20mm wrenches will do just fine, you and I both know that.

Agreed, but I always love the pics of Fail.

I dont know whats worse; the fact it happened, or the fact they kept driving long enough to make it that way.

That is awesome, even tho it has nothing to do with a fuel filter. Anyone with common sense can perform a job like this.

Line wrenches surround the entire nut, almost. No worries about stripping.
