Ok, this is a controversy,
i have ABS, Trac Off, no SVS or SES, now,
go right, LOUD noise...
go left, silence,
i have heard left side and right side..... idk what side, both sides still feel firm and no wobble (front only checked)
what to do?
i dont know what side is bad....

i'm pretty sure it's the left side, cause mine does the same thing

No, I think it more like a quandary, possibly a dilemma...
But if you have people disagree on what to do about it,
you may well start a controversy.

When you turn right, all the stress and weight goes to the left corner, hence its the left side.

Left side.
Buy one bearing pull the left side off. Inspect it off the car.
When mine went bad the last time I drove knowing theyw ere bad for months on end. When they started making noises of death I replaced just one then ended up doing the other the next night...
When I jacked the car up I could grab the wheel and it would be "loose" on the axle.
But I drove mine forever and it was making death noises.
Yes death noises. Screeches, clawing, grinding, squealing it was bad. Very bad...

Well if one is going bad what do think chances that the other one is close to going.
Timken hub assembly is only 120$ if you got the cash I would do both.
Don't go with a cheaper one, you just can't beat a Timken bearing.

whats the chance it could be the back bearing? or do those not commonly fail
wow...... i just farted and my entire classroom stinks.....
go to autozone and buy a timken wheel bearing, they give you a 1year waranty so you can actually swap both of them for new ones, since you cannot tell which side is which, ive done this many times with axles and wheel hubs (since the air ride likes to eat hubs and cv joints like noones business)

It doesn't always go that way, Although its 90% sure, I had one I guess was making noise only when I put inner side load on it(right bearing bad), so when I turned to the right it got louder! Weird but it got me thinking now that it was my inner axle bearing at the tranny. Anyhow I checked the tranny fluid for discolour and metal, it was all good so I changed the left bearing since when I turned to the right putting load on it I got the noise. Still made the noise so I changed the right one, low and behold the inside of that bearing was crap! So I wasted my money on that left one which I had replaced before with Timken, (now its noname bearing).

I had those at first. I got two for like $95 shipped. One died in a few months... Got a warranty replacement with a hell of a hassle...
Then they both went out about the same time.
I love my SKFs I just bought. I believe they are a 2 year warranties also...
$120 a pop.

Yea, I thought that too when one of mine went bad so that was the one I replaced. Turned out it was the other one. Puzzled me and my dad because you would think the noise would get louder when you stress the bad side. It actually ended up being the opposite.

is it ALWAYS the front that goes?
Ryan from Ohio

No, not always.
Its the most probable and most prone.
Is the growl/rumble coming from the front or the rear?

if there is no slack on the wheel, one good way to know if your bearing is making noise lift the car up and put it in neutral then turn the wheel with one hand, put the other hand on your coilspring, you should feel the grinding from the bearing......

i spun the wheel on all four.... they had some resistance and made no grinding sounds..

Better not wait too long, may have the hub come right out and wreck the brakes/hoses fender etc...

Well jack it up and grab the wheel and pull it about.
If its making noises similar to what mine was, it will be loose.
Replace it now. Its about to blow apart.

the death noise is like... someone putting a huge baseball card in your rim and letting it make motorcycle noises.

When it makes a screeching noise you got about 2 miles IF and thats at 25 mph tops.
If you make $70K a year stop being a cheap ass. That well brakes apart and flies off you are putting everyone on the road at risk.
