So my Alero is no more. Thanks to some moron that was not paying attention.and here is what happened
I was on my way to work on 18may09. was on the on ramp to get on to 35E. There was a yield sign at that on ramp. Stopped there. the guy behind me in a 2005 Chevy Tahoe didnt stop and hit me going about 30-40 mph. these are the pictures after it was all done and towed.

And that was at 30 to 35 mph.....I remember someone talking about street racing at that mileage like it would only cause a fender bender.....we now see what that fender bender would look like.
Wow that is insane. I'm glad you walked out of this relatively ok - just remember, it could be worse.
TheEdgeofSanity
05-19-2009, 11:14 PM
the thing is, if you look at the pictures, there is very little damage (if any) to the passenger compartment. these cars are made to crumple in the front and back and protect the passengers. you can see that everything is engineered to fold in to reduce the force quicker and protect the occupants.

05-19-2009, 11:21 PM
yeah but my next car i a having full coverage no matter how much it cost. I thought i could save some money for a little while and go to liability only and well i guess you could say i am paying for it now
that sucks man full coverage is a must, even if you get raped on the deductible!
cliffordwoeller
05-19-2009, 11:48 PM
yeah i am finding that out..... found out doing no insurance is the worst idea ever and just plain stupid. then I got liability only and now i am finding out thats not as stupid but just about as bad

holy sh*t man. Glad you are ok. Sucks about the car, but sh*t happens. Just be thankful you weren't seriously injured.
About the totaling of the car out, they should allow you to get the wheels and such as long as you have another set to put on it. When they totaled out my last alero, I was allowed to get my rims because I had the stock ones to put back on it. As well as take other items from it that were mine (ie. stereo equipment). So hopefully that works out for you. Sorry for your loss bro.

as per facebook... he says hes having a hard time sitting up without a lot of pain.
let this be a notice to anyone on this forum. if you get into an accident... and your car looks like this. GO TO THE HOSPITAL. Even if you have nothing wrong, and no pain. Even if you can walk around just fine. Adrenaline will keep you feeling fine for a while. Granted, the next day is always the worst(for him this is a few days afterwards). You, yourself cannot tell if you have something internally wrong. (nor can i, and i know what i'd be looking/feeling for) Get checked out. The quicker they find something (like a herniated disc) the better. Let unchecked, you could have an injury that persists for your lifetime OR semi-paralysis.
Just keep a mental note. Alot of power was required to make his car look like that. Alot of that power, transferred through his body. Pretty easy to move skin/bone/muscle when it can bend that much metal.

As for the mustang, go for it. Those cars are fun as hell to drive. In June I'm trying for another 07-09 convertible or a 2010 V6 since the banks screwed me over and wanted more than I had for a down payment >_<.

daaang.. sorry to see that man. when a honda hit my ho in ther rear going 40, it just bent up my quarter panel and bumper a bit... 2800 worth of damage. but all i can say now is i'm GLAD it wasn't a tahoe.
glad to see you're ok, and i actually really want a 99-04 mustang myself, so i say go for it if it's what you like!

yes I am a ford guy at heart... well kinda the mustang would be the first domestic sports car I would pick. I like their trucks but cant give a reason why I would need a f350. I figure if your going to get a truck, you might as well just put the money in to get a real truck that can pull almost anything. plus I love the sound of a turbo charged desiel engine

well due to all the bad luck lately, my girl and I are moving to Puerto Rico in three weeks. Thats where her family is and are from. Her dad has his own law firm , so he is going to take over the lawsuit for me, and hes giving his daughter a house for coming back to Puerto Rico, so I guess thats not a bad deal

so it seems. the latest is that my attorney says that since the driver of the car is not the owner of the tahoe, and is not on the insurace for that vehicle, they insurance and the owner are not responsible... which I think is total crap and my attorney is not that good. and I am sure there is a way to hold the owner of that vehicle responsible, unless he wants to claim the driver stole it or took it with out his knowledge.... but basically my attorney is telling me i am sheet out of luck and I am not going to get any money for my car or for my medical bills or the time I had to take off from work... I am in the process of trying to find an attorney that sees this as a bad picture

However, the driver is still responsible.
So I can just borrow someone else's car and run into people and not pay for it?
Your lawyer just isn't interested anymore because it's not a quick lump sum from an insurance company. You are still owed for the damages and suffering.
Get a better lawyer.

That's BS, you were rear ended, somebody should pay. It's not like you cut the guy out and jammed on the brakes!
My accident wasbrushed under the carpet. The one on the Garden State Parkway on Thanksgiving night 2006. Guy loses control of his car and slams me and I spin 2.5 times going 60 MPH. This was with the Alero, car wasn't totalled but NJ jack off drivers started blowing the horns when I stopped spinning because I was blocking the road :rolleyes2:
Anyway the law in NJ states that is if are in an accident, you cannot hold the other person liable for the accident unless major injury occurs. In other words, I would have to been killed or near death to sue. My neck is still fucked up from that accident and will be for life, but it's not enough :rolleyes2:
The guy that hit me did say he was "sorry" :rolleyes2:

yeah well after talking to three more attorneys, they say that in the "great state of texas" if a person gets in to an accident and the driver is not the owner and not covered on that insurance policy, that removes the owner and insurance from all liability. Now they do say I can take the owner and driver to small claims court, which the most I can get from small claims is $5000.00. Was also told most attorneys will not take this kinda of cases because small claims court can be a very time consuming and lengthy process and there is not much money to be made. Have found one that would represent me, but he said he would need some money up front first amout ? $1,000.00 ... so yeah basically i am screwed

No, you aren't screwed, you got hit from the rear and in court that basically means you win, there is no question as to whose fault this accident is.
Here is what I would do, get all your paperwork together, medical bills, damage from the car, etc and submit everything to small claims court. Then go to the driver and say you've submitted everything and explain to him that you would be willing to drop all charges against if he's willing to settle outside of court for a reasonable amount.
If he agrees, that's a win for you. If not, take him to court. Even if you only get a few thousand dollars, it's better than nothing.

yeah weel we leave for Puerto Rico in two 1/2 weeks. We are moving there. Thats problem #1. Problem #2, not to sound racist, but the guy had a mexico i.d. I don't know if the guy even had a drivers licence here, of if he was legal. He is a younger kid so I have came to the conclusion that to try and get money from him would be pointless cause all he has to do is not pay or go back to mexico or use another name/papers... Here we have so many illegals and they have fake documents every where here

Sucks that it happened, but seriously, you don't Stop at a yield sign. You slow down to let other traffic through. (and if there was so much traffic that you HAD to stop, then it's a problem in the texas Highway dept, not your fault) Though, if the Tahoe was in front of you (instead of behind you) it could have been much worse...he would have taken a header into traffic and no doubt you would get caught up in it.
In the end, I'm glad you're alright enough to be able to post about it here, and I hope all the legal BS works out for ya.
